Interested to see what people think we need in January? I'd like to see Sam and Connor sign extensions first.....
A target man to give us that option and also address the issues that have left us short recently: Centre Mid, Left Back and Centre Half.
Key to the end of this season and next is the amount of players out of contract, re-signing key players like; Hourihane, Watkins, Winnall and Scowen along with getting Davies on a longer contract is key, also signing Morsy permanently would be great for us. Another Centre back that can play with the ball abit, a target man if Payne doesn't perform to give us something different and a goalkeeper to act as a reliable No2.
Forgive George Moncur and find a way to integrate him into the squad, especially if Hourihane is to leave. Loan out Elliot Lee who is unfit and has no match sharpness despite being a very promising player. Sign a striker with great aerial prowess who can attack all the great balls we put in the box. Get Lloyd Isgrove back.
We need to see who is going to sign new contracts first and take it from there, I have full confidence in Hecky to sort it out if theres any problem. I would love him to sign Morsy though.
I think George Moncur will be good enough and we need to play him. Don't get me wrong, certain games fit certain players but he is technically a very good player and is worthy of some first team football. Saying that, it was him who asked for the move away after not getting in the side a few games and not Hecky wanting to get rid so....will he be happy fighting for his place?
I'm saying no. He'd have been in the side had he waited a few weeks and at the very least given Hecky a headache. Exactly how Morsy did. In fact, his attitude even as a loan player has been spot on.

Well look at it from his POV. He comes here with the view of being a key player- that's what they will have told him, that's why he chose to come here & that's what would have been in his own mindset. Then in the 6 Pre-Season games he gets pretty much 1 half of football to prove his worth and is totally frozen out in the league for a whole month while largely unproven players like Sessi & Payne are getting in. I think he'd happy fighting for his place if we showed him a bit of respect and actually gave him a proper chance.
We need depth definitely. Left back is a problem. A replacement for Mawson and get those contracts sorted out! 30k for Hourihane if needs must.
Contracts can be done anytime but keeping our key players has to be priority In my view we also need: At least one full back (2 if Yiadom goes to African Cup of Nations) A centre half, ideally one who is quite experienced (about 28-ish); one with Championship experience won't be easy to find but hopefully top Championship clubs may have someone in this mold who is available. Forego the transfer policy this once Sign Morsy, and another central midfielder Sort of Moncur situation Try and keep Armstrong until end of season, if not sign another striker Sell or loan out any fringe players if the opportunity comes (the likes of Lee perhaps) Don't think we need massive changes, but as usual just the odd changes to improve the overall quality of the squad
I'm thinking not many changes as we have decent starting XI options and a young hungry squad. However, especially at home, we have been done by teams with players who have a bit of nous. Think Parker or Lansbury. Older heads or streetwise in this division. So an older head or a proven player. Not Barton, but somebody of his footballing ilk, or a Kevin Long. And sign Morsy full time. And get Conor signed up - no brainer. Payne is not old, or experienced, but he seems streetwise and physical, so I look forward to seeing him come back. Maybe sign a similar big guy to share the workload and make the most of these decent crosses. Doubt Fletch would be available as his stock is rising, but a Waring type? No wholesale changes or panic required though, we're doing just fine. Sent via Royal Mail and typed up by my Tapatalk byatch
I don't see that many players coming to the club in January. If we are in a position to make Morsy a permanent signing, I'd be keen on that. If Armstrong goes back to Newcastle when his loan deal ends next month, then another striker may come in (target man?). When Moncur returns, he will have to prove to everyone connected with the club he's prepared to knuckle down, challenge & earn the right for a place in the team, similar to what Morsy & Bradshaw have done. The onus is on Moncur, in my opinion, NOT Hecky or anyone else.
A fully fit Payne, cover at left back, and plenty of luck. Haven't we got Morsy until the end of the season?
Cheers. Be great if we could tie him into a longer and permanent deal in January though. He's got better with every game.
