Strange performance all in all. For the early parts of the game he was an absolute "homer", and seemed intent on helping Birmingham. Kent booked, Morsy booked, corner given that no reds player had touched and a foul on Scowen waved away and we almost conceded. Then, as if to even things up, he started to give us everything and we'd gone from calling him a cheat to laughing in amazement. Totally bizarre performance. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
He was a disgrace. Then Clattenburg should have had Barry and Man Utd defender off for atrocious lunge tackles. Two penalty decisions were also bad. Then Liverpool ,Bournemouth ref was another . Until ex players are re taught to be refs then the standard is always going to be poor
He was a disgrace, but he went from the worst to the best in our favour. Also thought the second forest pen against Newcastle was very iffy. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Can Kent appeal his booking? The Sky highlights clearly show that the defender trod on his foot which made him go to ground.
Re: Can Kent appeal his booking? Are you sure mate? I've just watched it again in slow motion and lansbury just appear to stop and let the defender run into the back of him. Soft pen for me. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
The Sky highlights show that we could have had 2 penalties on saturday, in addition to the Kent one, Winnall had a shot blocked by the arm of the defender which was well away from his body, it would have been a bit harsh but I've seen them given. http://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/teams/barnsley/10682194/birmingham-3-0-barnsley
Not for us you havent! But really the problem is the huge variance in refereeing decisions I've seen far more iffy penalties given against us than for us over the years. Its harder to be objective when obviously biased but to take a recent snapshot - Kent tripped in area - but booked, Winnall flattened in area - opponent given retrospective 4 game ban - missed by ref, defender mishits back pass and blatantly steps across hourihane not given but forest player runs into scowen after passing ball - penalry given against us. and dont get me started on wrestling in the box - I know both sets of defenders do it but some of it is blatant and almost always ignored
Does anyone remember a game against Stoke? We were 3 2 up and they had a corner in injury time. Everyone was pushing and shoving in the box and the ref had a word then stepped back. I said to my mate "hes looking to give them a pen", and of course he did as soon as the corner came in. Liam Lawrence took it and scored. Really makes you wonder about them sometimes, and whether they feel that affecting a game is their little perk. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
I agree, I remember one given against Joe Joyce in 1983 when he had his arms down by his side and the Huddersfield player blasted it at him from point-blank range and a penalty was given but no I can't remember one for us. Another outstandingly bad decision was one in a cup tie against Oldham where their lad was (debatably) fouled about 10 yards outside the box by Owen Archdeacon but stumbled on until blatantly falling over in the box. Comedy refereeing of the highest quality. Probably the softest pen we ever got was in the playoffs in 2006 against Huddersfield.
Funny game all round. We got there, paid for the car park and went to the away end. Loads of reds fans but no home fans. We were told match was off because of fog, but you could see into boundary park and it was clear under the lights. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Never forget that one. Guess who the ref was? (Clue: It starts with Trevor and ends with Kettle) Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
One of the worst refereeing performances I've ever seen, he completely took over the game. Can't remember many more hostile games with our fans and their players having a right go.
