Sold their full allocation of just over 4k for the game at the keepafloat tomorrow. Good support that for grimsby!
They have a great away following Took nearly 500 to Plymouth other week Good mate of mine is a Lincoln fan and once went to a Lincoln v Grimsby game Like Celtic Rangers they hate each other must have been 4000 Grimsby that day Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yer fair play to them I don't think grimsby is a massive town so it's a well supported club for the size of the town.
Their away support when they were in the Conference was incredible considering the dwindling numbers teams seem to get after relegation. #TeamsLikeBarnsley
Remember visiting Blundell Park a few times in the past. Always a good atmosphere, and always bloody cold! Remember us winning 3-2 there with John Hendrie getting a hat-trick, and then winning 3-0 there with Matty Appleby scoring a well taken goal when through one on one. I also remember us losing 6-1 - I think we were 4-0 down at HT that day and half of our supporters litereally just got up and left.
That 6-1 game... was meant to be going but couldn't in the end but remember hearing the scoreline. Then learnt Isaiah Rankin had had a worldy as well. Wasn't there some trouble that day in the ground? Either between the fans or maybe with Rankin himself? Seem to remember some comments at the time about it and pictures in the Chronicle? Grimsby have always had a decent support but I think the Conference years saw loads more start travelling, probably due to the novelty of it all. That's clearly continued. They took 4-500 down to Barnet on a Tuesday night a bit ago and 2,500 to Notts County this season.
Must be embarassed about home end sales because their was an advert for the match in the free Metro paper you get on public transport yesterday.
Some fans wanted to leave early, possibly half time, as we were getting battered and it was freezing. I think the trouble was down to the police not letting them leave and go to the pub Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Ive seen them play at oakwell before think the year was about 1999 in the old division one (championship) I can remember they hate yorkshire.
I got a crack at grimsby in early 90's. Wouldnt have minded but for one the lad just ran off and second id just walked out of chippy with a large haddock n chips in my hands....that went all over pavement. Ive enjoyed their demise ever since...
Bumped into some Grimsby fans who were using the same hotel as us when we beat Swansea in the play off final . I think they were playing the day after us . Just proper fans who supported and loved their club and town . Real supporters not glory boys . Good luck to them .
Grimsby is one of the grounds I've visited most over the years, and we've had some great games there. I can only really remember 3 games against them at home. 2-1 win when we clinched promotion from 4th division, 3-1 defeat when Regis wrapped himself around the post, and a dull 1-0 when John macDonald scored from the halfway line. All the best games seemed to be away to them, like some already mentioned. Hard for any younger fans to believe that them and us were once very similar clubs for a long time.
