They'd have to drop very far down the leagues to get any club who'd give them the time of day, pretty sure I read somewhere they bought a club in the 5th tier instead of starting out in the bottom tier like they should have and that's another gripe people have with them

They bought 5th level club SSV Markranstädt in the Leipzig area, they tried to take over another local club but there was a lot of opposition from the fans which escalated in to violence.

It is interesting to read up on the whole story, although I disagree with their existence, it does make interesting reading.

All just seems very below board to me and it's not right to simply buy a club with all their tradition and history just to suit some business enterprise, glad there's some backlash in Germany, only place I'd watch football outside of the UK, cheap, great fans and alot more interesting than Spain or Italy.

My season ticket in Germany cost me 150€ - one ticket for Atletico Madrid vs. Real Madrid cost me 140€. Mental.

Germany do have expensive tickets too, for example at Bayern Munich or Hertha Berlin you can pay around 70€ to sit in the 2nd tiers.

I'm assuming Bayern and Hertha are expensive because of the size of the cities, if not I'm not sure how Hertha can justify charging the same price to watch them as it is to watch the best team in Germany, who are also a champions league winning side

Tickets went on general sale on Friday for Hertha Berlin vs Bayern Munich so I checked them out, standing areas which were completely sold out were only 17€ but the only tickets left ranged from 42 to 99€

You're right. Hertha and Leipzig are the two BL stadiums without a standing section!

    Good article from this weekend......

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...A-did-England-miss-Germany-s-miracle-man.html

Oliver Burke seems to be doing well over there. Makes a change for someone from over here to go abroad to play, unless it's for one last payday like Cole, Lampard etc. If nothing else they have made the title race more interesting than the usual one horse race or two back when the Bayern Munich feeder club Dortmund were challenging, until Klopp got sick of it and left for Liverpool. Every team tries to buy success be that Barcelona or Accrington Stanley because every club spends money hoping to improve. They obviously have lots of money behind them but their rise up the leagues to where they are now has still been remarkable.

I was only thinking yesterday that Coventry could eventually go that way.

They're in the mire, and have lost a considerable number of fans. They've historically got a big fan base and are only a little success away from pulling them back in I reckon.

It's disgusting but I can see it happening.

Give Tranmere the resources of Red Bull and they'll soon be in the PL. There's nothing impressive about their rise through the leagues.

It does mate! Thinking of going to that game myself, Dortmund is only 2 hours away for me. Germany's atmosphere at international level is pretty poor due to the fact absolutely no Ultras take an interest in them.

I bet you had great fun in Gelsenkirchen with everything to see and do there like, erm... the stadium and the train station :D

Hence the stay in dusseldorf same this time someone described dortmund as like Middlesbrough with neo nazis so had to be dusseldorf.

Dusseldorf is a wise choice, you can't go wrong there! My one memory of Dortmund is it taking 2 hours to get out of the car park after they lost against Bayern. I've not been back since. German efficiency, my arse.

Prague is on my list too, but not booked anything yet. February I'm off to Feyenoord vs. Groningen.
