The coke has destroyed his curly locks. Or was that the copper's helmet stifling his growth.

Sad to hear in a way, but can't feel sorry for him, if proved.

Being a hero / good person & being an addict are not mutually exclusive.

How many ex servicemen have suffered this, as well as footballing heroes like Gazza.

If he was a kid I'd be more forgiving. Addiction is horrible. But he has had a great start in life & he's an adult. He can still get help & redeem himself, but he can't be a copper.

When I worked for Yorkshire Bank they once sacked someone for borrowing £1 from the till.

    Same.

Doesn't. Say he's an adict does.

However. I do accept. The point. About the mutual exclusivity

Just makes me sad. I've read a number of articles that he's a good copper. Hope they offer him rehabilitation not the sack.

Pretty much everyone who gets done at work for booze / drugs is an addict. You wouldn't do it if you weren't.
Coke stays in the system for a short time, unlike weed or even booze.
As I pointed out not excusing it. A lot of coppers will have confiscated drugs & put them up their noses.
If you work in certain jobs, then these things are more prevalent.

    Not sure if that's true.

I take drugs. I'm not promoting them to anyone, I'm not saying it's OK, but it's my choice. Some days I would fail a drugs test. But then I will go for months without taking anything, so I'm pretty sure I'm not an addict.

As someone who believes in legalisation of possession (not supply) I'd like to agree, but a copper who takes class A's has to walk I'm afraid. They are enforcing the law & confiscating the stuff. Hope he rehabilitates in another job.

Most people who do recreational stuff won't risk getting high in work time. Most people that get done have had a driving incident or their behaviour has caused suspicion... like in the case of a coke head going to the traps in the toilet every half an hour. I wish him well, but it won't be a one off.

Final PS, wish he gets clean. I'm pro education & treatment, but can't have it in the police, although I do know it exists big time.
