I make that 47 career goals for the reds Just wondered where he ranks in the all time Bfc scorers list.
Ive got a tenner on him scoring 15+ goals and the reds finishing in the top half... only @ 5/1, but its looking good so far!!
Reds historical facts are shocking to find, not much on the official website, l used to use the Oakwell historian on Twitter, l think it's Turvey Tyke on here.
46 goals so far 13 season 1 24 season 2 9 season 3. Overtook Andy Payton (who he reminds me of) today. Currie 48 Rammell 50 Banks 53 In his sights
He's got a very good record for us despite his chances to goals ratio not being great. Then again if it was any better he'd be elsewhere and not still with us.
Would've been a lot more if he weren't injured for about 4 months of his first season. Quality finisher
Must admit I had severe doubts about whether Sam would be able to make the step up. Obviously I'm very glad he's proving me wrong. Now all we need is that new contract.
According to this Ernest Hine scored 131 career goals for us. http://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/article/player-records-05032014-1400411.aspx He seems to have played for us between 1921-1926 and again between 1934-1938. The official site may need updating if media reports are correct, as Alfie Mawson would now be our record transfer received on £5M. However, the sell-on for Stonesy presumably takes his total earned for us past Alfie's fee.
I think he's a bit like Andy Cole in that respect. Winall always gambles and puts himself in positions to get chances, takes plenty, misses plenty. There are other forwards who don't get as many chances because they're not always in position to receive/accept them, he'll outscore them at most levels, even if their conversion rate is better. I'm very happy with a forward who is always putting himself in position to get a chance.
I wonder how he'd stack up with goals to pound notes cost against his rivals over the last 2 n half years? Very good scorer and gets way too much criticism in my view
Yeah he's brilliant for being in the right place at the right time. It doesn't matter to me that he's likely never going to win a goal of the month award because they all only count as one anyway. Be nice to see him take on four or five players and put it in the top corner from thirty yards just once though When people last season mentioned his very good scoring record he himself was a typical striker in interviews expecting more. It was good to see that whilst he'd have been pleased to reach twenty he still wanted more.
