Will the club announce an official match day tribute to him?

I appreciate everyone has their own ideas of a fitting tribute for him but some get a little carried away.

There is a group on facebook (below) wanting to hold a minutes silence for the 1st minute of the game. Then an applause in the 70th minute. Then a light on in the 90th or 93rd minute.

A minutes silence after the match has kicked off is just silly.

Its would he great for the club to set out an official tribute then everyone can really pull together for that in particular and we dont get lots or half hearted attempts.

    RIP Rimmo

Totally understand that, Chris. As just one small part of the Club, I am loathe to comment or promise too much at this stage but I think you'll hear more in due course, via official channels.

On behalf of the Club though, thanks again to everyone for their kind words today and understanding. And for those who don't do twitter etc, here's the videos we put out today. You Reds.

I go along with that. There could be a match program dedicated to him in the future.

I agree with Chris in that a minutes silence during the game just won't work. it has to be before the game kicks off.

If people are paying a mark of respect, then surely it is respectful whatever they are doing. What is there not to get? At least with applause you don't get the noise from the late-comers and from outside the ground.

Reckon you've hit the nail on the head - the introduction of applause as a mark of respect had been in play for how long ? Last 5, 10 years ??

Probs introduced simply to end the occasions in the past where embarrassing gob shites called out inside grounds just go be funny or cos they had few brain cells

Next you'll suggest applauding at the menin gate after last post .

As I said don't agree with it and don't like applause as a mark of respect - my opinion and tek it not yours !!!

His death is a massively significant moment in our history so even if it costs an extra quid the matchday programme should be made extra special or put one for sale alongside the usual version. For a commemorative it would be good to have dozens of extra pages, bigger in size like Wembley programmes are, glossy protective front cover to protect better from wear and tear like we used to etc. He deserves a matchday programme that's bigger and more special than our usual ones and that it will fall on our biggest crowd of the season makes it extra good :)

Minutes silence pre match for me. He deserves that.

I take it your're on about football, Not sure when it became commonplace, doesn't make it wrong though. My point is showing a mark of respect by applauding is not disrespectful as you suggested. I don't mind and have no preferences on which way to show my respects. Noise from outside the ground is not all down to embarrassing gobshites, I've heard various ticket sellers shouts for example. Also, fans singing at the turnstile queues unaware of what's happening inside.

Why would I suggest applause at the Mening gate? That's appears to be just a cheap jibeThe point to my reply is obvious, it's about respect being shown in a way you obviously disapprove of is not disrespectful. You can can get off your high horse now as I won't reply to you in this thread again.

    Glad to here it

My point re gobshites was those IN the ground and not observing minutes silence NOT those outside or coming through turnstiles.

As I've said from beginning - my opinion not yours - that's what it's all about Opinions !!!

I'm with you on this; I prefer a minutes silence particularly for somebody who has genuinely earned the honour. I'm not a big fan of a minutes applause and definitely not for occasions such as this. I guess it suits some occasions but in my opinion this is not one of them.

Any chance we could keep petty squabbling off a thread of this nature. Highly inappropriate. Thanks.

Minutes applause before match is sensible imo.
Minutes silences are ok for national tributes etc but it takes just one person to disrupt it then it's spoiled choose what rest of crowd do.
However I believe crowd tributes to him will prevail throughout game imo and rightly so he was everything to every body at Oakwell and judging by tributes to a lot more besides.
