The problem with the welfare state, as I see It, is that it works perfectly well provided there are a lot more people paying in than there are taking out.

The baby boom generation has paid in for the last 50 years, but that money was spent on that generation's parents and grandparents. But we were too busy enjoying ourselves to produce the generation that would sustain us, and the pill allowed women to plan a family to their convenience. Now we are old and it is too late to restore the balance, and the only alternative, importing the skills that we need and the tax payers to pay for those skills is behind the locked door marked EU.

Of course things are not quite that simple, but simple explanations work best on here, so I'm told.

It's a shame the labour regime gave birth to a culture of scrounging, claiming and borrowing whilst opening our borders without restriction to likeminded people. The last time I could be bothered to look, our economy was being held up by 27% of people in full time work, this will have declined further by the Tories slashing public service jobs. Have a happy new year, there's a good chance that if you can be arsed to pay your way in full time employment, someone's having a good giggle at your expense.

No, the shame is the Tories gave birth to a culture of self-serving greed, whilst selling off profitable national industries to balance the books. And they're still at it, if you need but look.

Your right and he is, where by he says labour gave us the scrounging culture. It's very hard for the working man to vote nowdays when the choices are so poor.
