What happened to the rule change where you don't get a red card and a suspension for last man challenges which get a penalty?

Surely that would be just that, they get the penalty, we lose the man, and he also gets a one game ban. Thought that was exactly what they were looking to avoid, except for deliberate handball on the line

No idea - I thought that as well. Though from the commentators comments even under the old rules he shouldnt have gone as Davies was getting the ball anyway

I would doubt that had much of a bearing. **** ref, poor decision.

I'm not sure anyone has it in for us though.

If this time last year someone said we'd be 14 points clear of the relegation zone in twelve months time, I'd have said brilliant, as long as it's the league one relegation zone, not league two. We'd beat Blackpool a few days back to get out of the relegation zone for the first time since October time, and sat 19th in league one.

As it is we're 14 points clear of the bottom three in the championship, sitting pretty in 9th place and looking up, not down.

What a magnificent year, the fact we consider drawing at home to brum as two points lost shows how far we've come.

Ace time to be a red I reckon. Them tangerines are gonna take another proper tonking next week.

If the referee feels that the player wasn't making a genuine attempt to win the ball it's still a red. If he thought it was a genuine attempt it isn't.

Barely a pen let alone a red card.

The rule is you don't get sent off if a pen is given if you have made a genuine attempt to win the ball. As Roberts seems to do absolutely **** all I can only imagine he's been sent off shoving him and preventing a goal scoring opportunity. In which case he'd have been better off sliding into him and taking him down.

I think they've worded the law wrong. It ought to be something like 'an attempt to stop the opponent without genuine intent on getting the ball' because in this situation Roberts wasn't going for the ball but he also wasn't trying to stop him, they just collided from what I could tell in the West. It's a stupid rule and always has been.

My first thoughts were that Davies would have mopped up had Roberts not made the foul.
