That title seems bonkers to me. Quick turn around and all that.

Anyway after whats been posted today on this forum i'm just going to do what I do really and post about Sport > Football > Barnsley FC > Yesterdays match firstly.

Just disappointed really after yesterday really can't get away from that and two dropped points.

After been to the reverse game in Birmingham what a month ago? it was a totally different Birmingham that we played. They have become a posative team after what was a negative anti football system of old. Now i'm not saying it's right or wrong but thats what I saw and it seem to take Barnsley a few minutes to work it out.

Early on in the half we seemed to be building play via the left and it surprised me because our right much more causes much more danger. And that's what we seemed to get the advantage from later in the half. Nice runs from Watkins and Bree caused problems and with the first a nice pull back to Bradshaw and he slotted home. The second Was a nice from Bree and I though the Brum defender had caught him but a nice step over and Bree got past him. Cross cleared behind for a corner and a nice header from Winnall to make it 2-0. Not sure what TK was doing in goal.

In the champ you always get the high and low points of a half and we can't seem to get the better of them. 5 minutes after a start restart and after a goal and we once again let it slip. Watch Manchester United in these occasions and you see Carrick pointing to either side of his head and telling them to fecking switch on now.

Now theres a lot of question marks around some of our players still for me and the centre backs are certainly that. People will be calling for my head here. Worst Barnsley fan to have ever lived and calls for me to be banned but what the hell was Roberts doing. Your control's that of a breeze block at times so just clear the ball first time. The big hoof , have it. Then he thought he was John Stones later on in the same half running into midfield and lost the ball which led to Barnsley losing the ball in the centre of the pitch, again Why and that's what Barnsley Captain Hourihanes body laungage said to him for me just after it happened. To make it fair to Roberts, MacDonald did the same thing in the second half. I will defend Footballers at times too much but I just don't understand it. It's just like a park much and someones going to say next goal wins so it doesn't matter what happens for 80 minutes.

Second half happens. I don't understand what been said at half time. When they look to play the ball in to Adams just stand off him, it's the only way he can hurt the two centre backs. They did and then comes the pen.

Saying that the team held it together and on abother day could have got a third. I'm sure Birmingham fans are saying the same though on their way back home. Watkins could have done better and all SW needed to do was get a lovely cross from Scowen was on target.

Now I'm going to look into James Bree development because I'm seeing something I don't quite like. He's playing really well for me and on the football it's self I don't seen him been far off a big move. He's looking like Holgate and Stones did before they get the move actually I think he's looking better than Holgate.

It's the other side I don't like. He just let's things drift on. It's something RNL used to do and it annoyed me then and it still does now. Okay he's 19 and some would let him off with this but Stones was 18 and he didn't find it hard to put someone in their place or go toe to toe with an opponemt that's annoyed him. The best you get with Bree's this shrug of shoulders and then he let's things go. He's the most talented footballer in the side imo so he will have something natural that he see's. Why not let it out and tell others what you think about what they've done. To make a strange and big comparrison to this but Theo Walcot does it and for me it's made him less of a player at Arsenal. It's oh well it'll be okay next time.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Onto tomorrow. I think we need to make changes. I'm not sure who's fit but we've the enforeced one with Jackson in. I'd play white for either Yids if Bree's okay from the knee problem. Scowen in for Morsy? Now I don't like Scowen centre mid but it might be needed. I would bring in Armstrong in for whoever recovers least well up front. Janko fit? for Watkins? if Yids play that side.

It must be a horrible feeling investing so much time in something that will never meet your expectations.

We have just had the best calendar year of football most of us have ever seen and yet judging by your constant bial towards the club and certain players it would appear most of it has passed you by. So sad.

Happy New Year HT. Hopefully this is the year the penny will drop for you.

I think you have some valid points. We certainly need to work on our game management.

Don't think because a players doing okay that things are okay. I will tell you the name of a footballer that did that and been truthfull got to what I would consider a bigger club than Barnsley then dropped like a stone in water. Oli Johnson In 4 years he went from Nostell to Norwich and in 4 years he's gone from Norwich to Bradford Park Avanue.

Agree with most of that. Agree Robbo should just punt the ball out if he's not sure. He does have a lot more passing ability than he gets credit for, but don't think he would pretend anything but he had a bit of a stinker yesterday. Happens to the best of them and Robbo is definitely one of the best CBs we've had in a decade. Alongside Jason Shackell and Moore for me in terms of defensive CBs.

Think we'll see a few changes tomorrow. Freshen things up.

Personally think Janko will be going back - he was a last minute deadline day signing to provide cover. Bar that first goal he's done nothing to suggest he's worth keeping. Not bothered if Armstrong stays or goes - he's 4th choice for me. Would rather we sign someone that will be here next year. If he stays great, extra competition, but he's well off Bradshaw, Watkins and Winnall for me. Also like to see Payne get games ahead of him.

The first goal was brilliant. Roberts long throw from our corner flag, Winnall jumped well and it fell nicely for Marley who absolutely murdered his full-back, great cut-back for Bradshaw who finished in style. Second was just a perfect delivery from Hourihane met perfectly by Winnall who'd made the perfect run off his man. Telepathy.

Felt we had the better chances and probably ought to have won despite Roberts having an off-day.

Watkins deservedly MOTM for me. Would have said Sam had he put that header away late on.

Be interesting to see what we do tomorrow considering the games we've played in quick succession and with the likes of Armstrong and Hammill chomping at the bit. Good dilemma for Hecky.

Think we'll get something tomorrow. You Reds.

So your saying that we have players at the club who think that they have cracked it and dont have to bother anymore ?

I'm saying people need to not let our players think they've made it.

Same mistakes 18 month on, really that okay?

I've heard a top prem team are in for bree this window with a loan back to us for the rest of the season. Wouldn't suprise me either he has come on leaps and bounds from last season and has the most potential in the squad I feel.

Who are these people you refer to ?

The fans for daring to praise players for their achievements, or the club for daring to stick by them after promotion ?

He's got most of the natural things the top sides will look at for a full back or central midfielder. That's why I think some would say I bite when people Yiadom's better than Bree because it's simply not a true statement to make.

I don't see him been far away from a move if he wanted it. Just something to improve. It's not a hard one I don't think either. Confidence and a belief in his own ability.

I think yiadom is having a good season and for the most of it he has played out of position because he would much rather be on the right where bree is. Yiadom is more comfortable on the ball than Bree and is able to beat a man. But like I say bree has alot of potential and I expect offers for him most talented academy player scince john stones.

Janko fit? Für Watkins? Wenn Yids diese Seite spielen.

    Thanks Google Translate ;) (ish)

I wonder if we all crossed our fingers behind our backs and wrote that we agree Conor, Robbo and Sam are sh!te, that we agree they should be ditched and replaced by Frimpong/Barton, Gijon Julio and Alex Kiwomya and that we promise to sing 'A-team-of-Jamesy-Brees' for 90 minutes next game, that'd make him happy?

I can't see any other way of HT getting fulfilment from watching 'Barnsley' (or 'us' to me and you) and his postings.

You're perfectly entitled to post your views as far as I'm concerned HT and they give me an entertaining impromptu game of 'The Unbelievable Truth' off the radio as I try to wade through the largely false and/or inaccurate filler to find how the same five digs have been dressed up, albeit a tad repetitive.

However I take an almost diametrically opposite view. One example for now. I was at both Birmingham games and the only difference this time was that were stronger and dirtier, oh and less positive, substantially less positive, with no shots on target except their two goals from our errors and no shots on target, none, against 10 men, for most of the second half. (That's the way the Brummie I went to both games with saw it too).

Thankfully for most of us and our continued, almost unrivalled, pleasure in watching this team, Hecky thinks nowt like you either.

Yiadom is very comfortable on the ball imo I'm not saying bree isn't because he his bree gets forward really well also but Yiadom's footwork and control is good for example 1st half Saturday he picked the ball up went went past 3 Birmingham players with ease. And you have to remember left back isn't Yiadom's favoured position.
