Marc Roberts / Burnley link.

A rumour of a 6 million pound offer is going about. I love Robbo but surely we snap their hand off if an offer that high comes in?

He's a good un don't get me wrong but it seems that the media have built made BFC into some top class centreback production line where we can charge a high price for whoever stays inthe side for longer than a couple of months.
Great if thats true.

 

I think this one is much more likely than the Fletcher to Leeds one. The Burnley defender Keane is a possible big-money sale from Burnley to a top Premiership club and they will be scouting replacements now in case it does come off. It would not surprise me if Roberts is one of those they have been scouting, but that doesn't mean that it will happen, a) because Keane might not be sold and b) because Burnley will have been scouting others as replacements and not just Roberts. West Brom also linked recently.

 

If we did do this, then I'd be looking at doing something with Mr K Long in return.

 

I think that's a reasonable price in reality. He's the most dominant centre half in the air we've had in many years (and I include Darren Moore), in addition to being blessed with pace. I think in the right team he'd flourish in the Premier League.

I'd hate to see him go because he's top class but I'd wish him well and hope we can reinvest the money wisely.

 

It would be a meteoric rise if he did go. Non-league to premier league in the space of 2/3 years. Shows how well he's done.

Kevin Long would surely be on the cards as a replacement...?

 

Last season wasn't too bad for goals conceded, we only conceded more than 2 in one game last year and that was vs Cov during that run. This season I personally think we've been quite decent defensively in most games it's just in certain matches we've collapsed and it's cost us, without the defensive collapses in the Ipswich, Fulham and Forest games it would look very decent, but thats all part of this team improving because once our confidence slips we leak goals like a coulander

 

I'd snap their hands off for £6million. I like him, he's improved a lot during his time here, and he's a local lad, but that's a lot of money.

We picked up Angus for around £100k. and he keeps on getting better..

 

If they offer what Swansea did for Mawson then he has to go I'm afraid. With our recent record I fancy us to replace him a lot easier than we would with Winnall or Hourihane.

Wouldn't want Long personally, that ship has sailed, he was a LeeJay signing anyway.
I'm fairly confident we will have a replacement lined up, one out of left field. Maybe we already have one in Cole Kpekwa? It was clear to see he is more of a centre back than a full back.

Does seem a lot of money, but maybe it's a sign that we are started to get the inflated transfer fees a lot of other clubs have been the beneficiary of rather than being offered half a million and seeing that as some big windfall which is never enough to replace the departed player.

 

If Barnsley are offered 6m then that's great.
And he's worth at least that.
Just makes yer wonder what price tag he would have if he played for Weeds or de Blunts.
I hope the price tag would be the same.
