As much as he is a rock for us that is too much to turn down. We're making very good money on defenders in recent years and I would place a large wager on Angus making us a large profit too, I'm liking him a lot.
We're selling ourselves short once again . Look at the barmy transfer fees knocking about , 6m is loose change for a premier league club . Robbo is worth every penny and don't forget he's coming up to his best years . You could easily see Burnley or some other club picking him up for 6m keeping him for a couple of years and doubling their money . The fact that we got him for next to nowt is insignificant when it comes to flogging him .
Am I the only one who wants us to rebuff all offers and keep him? Along with our other players? The model of recruiting lower league players, developing them and selling them on is working brilliantly well, but it means we are destined to be a developing (feeder?) club all the time. Sooner or later we have to try to reap the rewards of the policy. If the players concerned want to leave that's something else, but if we just keep doing what we're doing we'll end up with a pot of money and a poorer team. We have a small but realistic chance of getting in the playoffs. Why not have a bash at it and then see what happens in the summer?
I think hanging on to Roberts is important. Everyone has their price though & once player's head is turned it is hard to stop the inevitable these days. I'm just hoping our scouting system already has a bunch of replacements identified. We are very short at CB, so we need a couple in if he does go.
No nonsense centre halfs don't usually go for as much as ball playing goal scorings ones like Mawson so i'd be surprised if anyone offered that amount for him.
