Just seen on Sky Sports that Rotherham have had a £850,000 bid rejected by Grimsby. Looks they really rate this lad so £1-1.5 million might get you this lad. That surely is too much for a League 2 striker !?
Hopefully we'd not be silly enough to bid that much. Nearly choked seeing in the Sunday Sun yesterday we'd bid 750k for him.
Modern day football is all about silly money mate. He's not worth that much. We can get a player at a similar age in League 1 for the same sort of price whose proven he deserves a step up.
Just looked at a few clips of him and he looks a great prospect AND he would inject something into the team that we haven't got at the moment - a tall striker that can cause defenders problems in the air. I'd rather see him at the club than another similar young loan signing e.g. Ashley Sometimes we need to be spending sums like this if we are to build a team
What over a £1million for a 23/24 year old who's never proved himself above League 2, we will need to spend money to keep competitive in this league but throwing money around is no way to go about it
All depends if Linton and Hecky look at the spreadsheet and think what he's got is worth that amount of money....but yeh, I wouldn't be paying it. There's some great young players in League 1 who could step up.
(Big target man) forward wise, who from leagues below could step up? I suppose they have to be under 24ish. Who is there who is "great"? Asking cos I have no idea...
Remember watching Odejayi on his clips and thought the same. Imagine if we had spent £1.5m on KO! Don't think this lad is a championship player. Just my opinion mind on limited viewing.
Based on this season, there's nobody really in our bracket of our transfer policy apart from maybe Matty Taylor at Bristol Rovers. Bogle is on the way to scoring well over 30 goals this season so could be worth a gamble but Tom Bradshaw scored a hatful last season in a league higher and has found it tough at times this season, even though I do like the lad. Nicky Ajose for me would also be a better signing but I stand corrected, looking at the list, there isn't loads of goalscoring options.
All prices for players in football have gone mad, but for some perspective Vardy allegedly cost Leicester 1m from non-league, struggled initially then the rest is history.
Kemar Roofe is the same age as Omar Bogle is now, scored 26 goals by the end of the season for Oxford United and went for £3 million. Bogle is already on 18 goals in the first week of January, and that's in a team of less quality, creativity than Oxford had. Bogle makes goals out of nothing. http://www.oxfordshireguardian.co.uk/kemar-roofe-leaves-us-for-leeds-in-record-fee/
