Hourihane might break 1.5 million i'd imagine this window. Winnall, Leeds bid 350k?. I'd imagine 700k max for Sam. My views aren't of this bubble of Barnsley Football Club. I watch a lot of Football so it's not going to happen. I also don't think with my heart on BFC I think with my head. Very early summer I said Alfie Mawson and James Bree were the biggest Assets to the club and ones gone for 5/6 million and the other's likely to go for similar if not more. I'll be honest if people think Winnall or Hourihane will go for more they are bonkers in my opinion. When I've been to watch the youth team in the last few years I will often have a chat with youth coaches on my way in and that and they are often surprised with the knowledge (that's not my bigging myself up, it's what they say to me) I often ask them why they sign certain players at the top level. All the top clubs coaches mention the same things
If Hourihane had 2 years left, you're looking at £15m. I'm not even joking. When it's **** in 18 months time Hemsy, remember what's just gone. These aren't just players, they're history makers. These teams come round once every 15/20 years. It's not FIFA.
No chance we'd sell for those sums so we might as well keep them, sell our promising second string full back Bree and give the money to extend our top performing assets Sam, Conor, Josh and Robbo. That should make you happy
I guess it's a product of the Thatcher era that the yoof of today value assets on a financial basis rather than in terms of their footballing skills, value to the team and things like, goals, assists, saves etc.
And I reckon Heck knows that we're a selling club and expects us to lose a fair few players, I think his comments about players not growing on trees is just to make clubs aware that we're reluctant to sell players, and it'll take decent bids for us to do so, in reality I think we have a list of 20/30 up and coming young players in all positions who'll have been scouted over the past 12 months, we'll know exactly who we want and roughly what they'll cost in terms of transfer fees and wages and I trust the club to go and get them when we need to, it's been obvious to everyone for months that this was likely to happen, and with the way we've gone about our recruitment in recent times I honestly believe the club as planed for it.
If you got on a bus and only one seat was taken and the rest of the bus was empty would you sit next to that person?
Don't give up Tina, it really is going to be a very interesting month. Firstly, there's some snow expected. It won't be the 4 inches that people are panicking about, it will be the odd flake here and there. But people will still make sure that they buy 18 loaves of bread and a few gallons of milk. It will be like Christmas all over again, stocking up in case the shops don't open again 24 hours later. After the snow, there may be time to get some nice walking in up on the moors. There may be some pockets of snow left over, which are great for making impromptu cups of tea with. If you've remembered to take your tea pot with you. There's often really good visibility at this time of year, as Venus will confirm if you look out for her when it gets dark. There's be time for a few curries, some nights out with mates, plenty of beer (or wine, if you prefer). Later on in the month I'm off to find the snow again, so I can spend all day going up mountains, then sliding back down with planks on my feet. After a day doing that I really enjoy my evening sustenance of spring water and a plateful of leaves and grass, only talking to men (never women) and being in bed alone by 9. I never go in heaving apres ski bars and dance on tables, and I never have lots of beer, wine and good food. Yes, it's going to be a really interesting month. Are you off camping?
I go to more matches than you. And have been to many more over the years not just Barnsley matches. If Hourihane had 2 years left on his contract bids would be between 12 and 15 million. Sam maybe half that. Watching kids football teaches you nothing about real football.
Not going to dispute that you watch a lot of football but what do you enjoy doing away from sport or is that your only hobby? If in this window we could only get 2.2 million combined for Hourihane and Winnall we'd keep hold of them both and risk losing them at the end of the season.
I know which player I would want to stay at the club if there was a choice between Watkins and Bree - and it's not Bree. That is to say Marley is a more valuable player to Barnsley than Bree - however, clubs will obviously be looking at potential and age of the players
I agree. Already had two family birthdays. Eldest step.daughter and mother in law. I get paid on Friday but I need to clear credit card Dr Xmas expense however I did get some overtime in in December. I also.might swap out energy supplier this month. So.yes an interesting month indeed.
My 91 year old dad has been in hospital since mid November. He's coming home on Wednesday. Yep, it's an interesting month.
