Talks about the fee for James Bree between Villa and BFC are ongoing and are "getting closer". When will we hear something official about this?
Agreed, was just thinking about his career. And state of Villa - can't see them being quality Prem any time soon.
Ideal if Villa! Get £6/£7m now with a 20% sell on. 3 years later he goes to city for £60m and we'll have another £12m. Or flog him to City now for a cut price £15m. Good luck to Bree either way. Great lad and great potential.
No but he'd probably play first team football there and, without wanting to do us down, they are historically a bigger club than us with slightly more potential.
Maybe we should use money to offer a significant signing on fees (new contracts) for Hourihane Winnall Watkins etc.
Can't argue about respective club size, I just think Steve Bruce is done at prem level as a manager and Villa generally are miles behind the Prem teams that are established imho
Agree. They are not likely to go up this season and we are more likely to finish above them. At least until we lose our team but hey ho. Villa might never get back to their previous heights. Look at Cov for example. Admittedly they do have someone seemingly prepared to chuck money at them. For now anyway.
He might be done at prem level but he knows how to get teams out of the championship, I think they'll have a good second half of the season so if they don't sneak into the play-offs this year I fully expect them to be challenging next year. It's just a shame that here we are yet again worrying about our team falling apart during a transfer window. Plus ca change plus c'est la meme chose.
Just got to hope there's no fire sale this Jan, and the club can work on replacements for Hourihane and Winnall especially this summer.
As to allow players to walk for nowt in the summer.. way as well have a fire sale. Sent from my 5051X using Tapatalk
If we are to sell certain players, like Bree, then we need to bring replacements in quickly. I think we are light on numbers anyway before we start losing them!
I agree, I think that we are now a much more attractive proposition to new signings than we were in August, and barring a total disaster, the club can budget on being at least a Championship club next year, which helps planning contracts etc.
