Hogan to West Ham = Winnall to Brentford = a.n. other striker for us ? Interesting to note that Keith Hill had Hogan on trial at Barnsley when he was gaffer..... Also how the f-ck can Brentford pay Winnall the sort of money that would turn his head ? It can't be footballing reasons. Who's backing them ?
Absolutely - just had a Google - their owner is wedged up, so I imagine wages are several times what we could pay.
Unless they're gonna pay us an absolute bomb, they'll have to try and get him in the summer on a free
If Sam Winnall gets offered £20k a week by any side in January he'll be gone this month. And understandably so. Same with Conor. You're talking half a million quid in their pocket for the same job - why wouldn't they?
I think Conor especially will take into account the relative stature of the club that want him and how often he'd play - he wants to play for the Republic. Of course, money talks but going to say Derby and not playing week in week out won't do his chances of playing any good at all.
Well yes we'd all do the same and I don't begrudge them that - it's just a tad frustrating that he is being linked with a side that is no better, maybe even worse than us.
Well Nixon now reporting that the Winnall thing is "coming to a head". I'll be well ****ed off of we lose him to ****ing Brentford.
I know we're all desperate for Conor , Sam etc to stay but I cant think of many past players extending / re-newing their contracts apart from Hammill and Luke Steele also Bruce Dyer way back . Sometimes they just fancy a fresh start and a change of scenery . I'm a merchant of doom!
The way it probably works however is buying club promise the earth,be the main man, mould a team around you, here's 25k a week etc etc.... Off player trots for 500k next week or a free in the summer Reality is said player finds out soon enough he could have done all that at Barnsley (for admittedly less money) We've seen a club captain in recent times scoot off for the cash never to reach the heights he did with us.
Don't worry, Wednesday are being Wednesday and according to Nixon they're going in for Winnall (according to Nixon)
Hasn't Cryne said before in fan meetings that we have no need to sell? We have got more than enough value out of them for what we paid with the promotion and where we are now. Keep them and see what we can do. We then have 3 months to find a replacement rather than a few weeks. Also he wouldn't sell to Bristol City in the summer so I highly doubt he will sell our leading goalscorer to Wednesday.
