Arguably. But Sam's strike rate is superior... :)

It's an example of that I think the club might and maybe should do. It's the club that can make it happen. We have to look past free's and very cheap players soon. It's can still happen but not at the rate of the past.

I agree that we need to speculate a bit, I just don't think it fits with the current strategy.

If we sell Winnall to Wendy then so be it, don't want to stand in his way it's his choice, like Hemsy says players come and go, we still have 3 good strikers and possibley as good or evan better on their day than Winnall.

He was let down by two average seasons when he first signed for us

Plenty of us don't care about money we personally won't see. We care about keeping together a team that as tough as it will be is currently in the play off mix.

well we won't progress. It's the way it goes unless you have a wealthy owner.

Go on. I'll bite.... Name these fullbacks.

Note: based on current philosophy they must be a regular performer in the lower leagues.

You can't choose Tommy AV Na Kloo or Bobby Nuideah.

Unless I've missed something, no player has come in and the only player who's gone so far is one who is owned by someone else.

Anything else is, at best, speculation.

(Speculation – To ruminate as to whether one needs eye glasses or not.)

why do we have to do that? It's served us well so far hasn't it? Yiadom/hammill on a free, Roberts, Winnall, Hourihane, mcDonald, Scowen, Mawson, Watkins all cheap in football terms...

It's only going to take you so far. You need to start moving up.

If you look at the Southampton article you would see that they have increased the amount they spend. They spent 10/12million on two players in the summer. 21 year old and 22 year old.

Heckingbottom mentioned this last week I think it was. Southampton are a very good club to look at in my opinion.

    Enjoy the ride[/QUOTE]

And there we have it from the football expert who has for the last 12 months failed to enjoy the fantastic football, the fantastic performances of Sam Winnall, Conor Hourihane and the other Barnsley players, and their unprecendented achievements.

Hemmsy. Go and learn something. Look up the word IRONY. After that look up the word HUMILITY and then RESPECT.

Pound for pound, we're the most successful club in the whole league. When we were promoted in 97, it was the most successful in Europe.

It was good to be beat the likes of Crewe and Shrewsbury but bigger things are to come and it felt it then. Going to Fleetwood last season was a strange experience to say the very least.

For what it's worth I actually agree with what HT is trying to say. In reality there is only so long you can polish rocks into diamonds. Not all of our speculators have come through with flying colours (most have but not all). Unfortunately we have to get used to the fact that this very very good team is going to be picked apart and pillaged by bigger or more wealthy clubs. Its now simply about how good the rebuilding job is and potentially spending a few quid here and there.

Which bits of Southampton do you think we should be able to emulate?

    a) The fact they were a total basket case in administration just over six years ago until bought by a bloke worth £3 billion?
    b) The fact that they are owned by a family whose business turns over 9 billion euros a year? or
    c) The fact that they get a minimum £100 million per year TV money?
