Really enjoyed it. Excellent representation of our town and some of the people.

Brilliant to finally see someone show our town in a good light. It wasn't my type of thing at all but I did really enjoy it, well done to all those who took part.

Yes, just seen it. Superb hour showing Barnsley in a fantastic light. I never heard of this event though. Presume the finale was filmed early on a Sunday morning so they could close the town. Never knew Toby could dance!

Anyone know when it was filmed?

Great tv show but I find it strange that he tried to bring all parts of the cummunity together miners, glass makers, police etc from past and present but never mentioned the football club as been part of Barnsley. Was expecting a group of fans in Barnsley shirts not just Toby

Yeah i I saw that but thought they would have made more of the club its been part of the community for a long time. I mean more direct reference rather than a few shot of the ground. Just find it a bit odd

A lot of the people approached were wary, largely because they thought it was some sort of stunt to take the mick out of Barnsley. Fair play to the guy who was choreographing it - he was down to earth and from the Welsh valleys so the plight of a coal mining community wasn't lost on him. Joan was a star, never got to be a Bluebell girl when she was young and is now, in her later years, looking after a husband with dementia. Proper tear jerking stuff but immensely proud of the people of the town because it's the people that make our town really special.

I have to follow on to my OP and say it was not by any means perfect.... however

I think I would not have enjoyed it half as much had it been so .... there were some flaws and some mistakes ....but a lotta laughs and a lotta love and the most important thing to any Yorkshireman ..... one HELLUVA LOTTA PRIDE. It totally embraced the wonderful community spirit of the S.Yorks area and the humility, togetherness and humbleness we hold dear and then the willingness to give it a go and try yer best to succeed..... the young lad from the chippy showed that 'In Spades' I will admit to shedding a tear at certain points .... especially when it mentioned my departed Dad's colliery of Rockingham, and a couple of my old haunts . Its that spirit that makes the place so bloody great. As I say the end product some may have looked upon as not the perfect item...but for me, as an exile, it was one of the most wonderful things I have seen in a long long time... and it made my day and made me feel sooooo proud of my home and my roots.

Could have filmed it elsewhere instead of that scruffy road by the bus station though.

    Lovely words.

I'm lucky that I still have my father stiubd, now 75. He worked at Barrow, Dearne Valley, Rockingham, Wentworth Silkstone before moving to Woolley. Lots of anecdotes and memories.

We live in a fantastic place.
