They could have bought a water bottle if they were that desperate to warm their bench. In all seriousness, I quite like my job,but to move for 4 times the dosh ....... no-brainer.
Million quid a year for playing football at 2nd tier. That's what we're up against afore some of us start slating a bloke that underwrites our debt....
I don't have a issue Winnall bettering himself and quadrupling his wages. I'd do the same. My issue is by the sounds of it, he's handled it like a ******** and we've sold him for next to **** all.
This time next year he will be on loan to Rochdale forget him he's not looked happy all season. Give Armstrong a run of games he will come good
£500k is one rumour. £2m is the other. Either way, he's gone, he's set himself and his family up for life. Gutting thing is that it is 'them bstards'. On we go .........
If true, £18,000 a week = £936,000 a year! And he'll be warming the bench for much of that time I reckon. How can PC possibly compete with that figure?
No slating. The plan is to be self sufficient and therefore sell players. Once we talk about those kind of salaries it hits home that we cannot compete in this division at least off the field.
They'll need to buy Conor now to land the ball on his head. Hope they arnt expecting to play through balls for him to run into with his pace
Put another way. He'll take a grand a week home for 30 years with what he'll earn over 3 years and that's without add ons and the signing on fee. If we have received owt near 1.3 million for him then fair dos, i couldn't give a rats who he's gone to. Anything under a million and I just don't see the financial sense for our club. Having said that there are people a lot brighter than an idiot like me running the club and so if it's in keeping with our plan then let's crack on.
I'm not PC's biggest fan personally, but we've got a business model based on income, and a bit of help from the owner - that's a fact of life - all we can do is mitigate against getting taken advantage of - hindsight is great re longer contracts - but in the summer for example, what figure would Winnall/Hourihane etc have wanted to commit for the next 2/3 years ? And we weren't assured of income to fund those types of deals. It's a difficult path to tread, but unless one of us drops for £150m on Euromillions what else can we do ? PC can't be criticised imho for that.
It's probably Sam's last big move and I don't blame him for that. But we could have waited until the end of the season. And he didn't have to go to Wednesday. He could have got somewhere better, without a transfer fee. So hope we finish above them..
Same here. We have set out to be self sufficient and this is how to do it. the sad reality is that we are a million miles away from competing even with dross like QPR at this level, as i say, off the field. We can only hope that we continue to turn up rough diamonds for relativley nowt and then get value out of them on teh pitch and off it. As soon as we start talking about transfers to clubs in this league we are out of the water so all we can do is maximise the value we get for them when the inevitable happens. It is frustrating as we are probably 2/3 players off challenging for top 6, if not already, and we start to see the side broken up. Still, it is only one player, we might get away with just the one but I hear it is just the start...
