No they were after Conor at the same time as Sam. It just hasn't progressed as fast as it has with Sam.
I think I'd give Linton brown my season ticket in person if hourhine goes to wednesday for anything less than 10 million. Sam winnall is replaceable and has been blessed to be in the same side of conor for 3 seasons we have two good strikers in bradshaw and armstrong who will score at this level. Conor is another level if we don't want to be in a relegation scrap we need him.
From a business point of view, accepting a substantial sum for Conor would make sense, if we were in mid-table. OK, we're very unlikely to go down, but sacrificing any chance of a playoff bid is absolutely mental. Unless of course someone has put at least £5 million on the table for him. Personally, I don't think he'll go to another club in our league anyway, bearing in mind that he'll almost certainly be playing in the Prem next season if he does run his contract down. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it will be with us.
I think Nixon would have reported it if true he was quick enough with the winnall one I still expect james bree to leave to villa 4million
It's a bit worrying though that we accepted it. As I said, if we were in mid-table I'd understand it, but we've got the best chance we've had of reaching the playoffs for 17 years. It may not come around again for a while, so breaking up the team when we're quite obviously financially sound is absolutely incomprehensible.
i'm already on the verge of falling out with football,if this is right then i can see this season being my last....are you really suggesting that we may still be liable for the cnuts wages?
They've paid whatever the figure is...if we hadn't taken it, the maximum we would have had him for is 21 games less injury and suspension.
We're 8th and on a great run of form. They needed a goalscorer for their promotion bid a host of clubs were apparently looking at winnall why take the 1st bid offered? I would have said 3million or you will have alot of comptition in the summer
My friend works in the same profession as Nixon and like him he's sometimes right and sometimes wrong.
I've heard the same and I really don't want to be a doom-monger. I'll happily be wrong this time though.
Yep Conor is going too. As I said earlier my next door neighbour went to school with the journo from The Chronicle and he said the fee is 1 million. The only reason he's not had a medical yet is that Conor wants 30k a week. Lewis - let me apologise for posting whilst drunk last night. Hope you didn't get into too much trouble.
That is not how it works at all. Sam Winnall stops being an employee of Barnsley FC as soon as the paperwork is completed and we stop paying his wages. Sheffield Wednesday are buying out his contract on his behalf and giving us a fee to let him join them. Don't be surprised to hear that we've got 2m for Winnall - but it's not in the club's interest to release that at the moment. It makes more sense to let other clubs believe we've got a paltry amount for Winnall until the end of the transfer window (or we've signed a replacement) to ensure that we don't get held to ransom on the next signing. It's not rocket science.
