Concerned for Hecky and the club and a possible reason we have no CEO

Listening to the latest interview with Hecky i am seriously concerned at the current state of affairs at the club and what it is doing to Hecky at the mo. The easiest way in the world to piss someone off enough to leave is by making it nigh on impossible for them to do their own job effectively and this sounds like what is happening right now.

The club need to get a decent acting CEO in place - even if it just till the end of the season till we make make a permanent appointment. Sounds like Hecky is having to pick up all of the transfer negotiations as well as coaching of the first team - and that is not what he signed up for. He wont put up with it for long. He knows what he wants and knows where he wants to go with our club, but if he doesnt get the proper backing and help (which it sounds like at the moment) then i dare say he wont hesitate to go to a club where he can express himself as first team coach/manager.

Also did i pick up on the fact in the interview that he's not sure if the ex CEO (Linton) has been doing his job properly hence we have no players lined up to come in and the possibly the Morsey deal wasn't setup right and now that could be teetering on the edge of falling over? Have a listen from 8 mins in. The silence, stuttering and rephrasing (in his mind) to ensure he didn't speak out of turn was telling. My take from that and probably the reason we have no CEO is we are now in a position with no players lined up. It is 2 weeks into the transfer window and we have nobody in. Why? We are also letting players go without others lined up? Why? Scary thought - especialy if it means Hecky cannot organise the first team properly because he is busy doing what Linton should have been doing.

I hope im wrong but sounds like we are operating with such a paper thin coaching and senior staff within the club (and probably other areas of the club) things could come tumbling down very rapidly with a couple of issues - like we are seeing now. It makes things even worse when you see we sign players like Elliot Lee who must be on a few bob to not even get on the bench. That money he's earning each week could go to paying someone to actually do a job.

Slightly concerned by whats going off behind the scenes right now. We have the best bright young manager head coach in the country imho and I dont want us to lose him and our best players because of a board room **** up and poor staff resource requirements.

So are you 'slightly' or 'seriously' concerned?

There's no doubt from listening to that interview thas Hecky's under a fair amount of pressure at the moment, and he himself said that it's detracting from giving his full attention to the coaching and preparation side.

It's important that we get someone in, if even on a temporary basis to help Hecky - especially at this time with transfers in/out looming.

I would have thought that anyone would be wary of the response you give in public to a media outlet regarding the details of a colleague leaving his post. Litigation-tastic.

Nowt like a bit of melodrama. We've sold one player and lost a CEO. The latter having no influence really on PH's ability to do his job.

    Get a grip.

Apart from the fact that he has said repeatedly that it takes time away from him being able to do his job. It's common sense, if he's spending time doing Brown's job then he's not able to spend that time doing his own.

It's not just the CEO though. Who knows what effect Patrick Cryne's illness is having? To lose his input and the CEO is bound to have a negative effect, especially in the transfer window.

I hope we can get a CEO in on loan, or give Newsbot the job. Or both.

Do we need really need a CEO? Correct me if I am wrong but before Don Rowing and Ben Mansford we didn't have one, did we?

Step up Mr Chairmain! Maurice Watkins is a very influential and well connected man. As many people have previously stated Linton's background was marketing and not player recruitment. Let MW lead from the top and do the transfer dealings and player contracts!

He has a million and one other things to do. Maybe that doesn't make him the best chairman, I don't know but the fact is that we won't be able to 'let him' do anything as he is involved in far more things than just us. I don't think that means he was a bad appointment, as we expected to have a CEO as well, it's just unfortunate now that we've unexpectedly found ourselves without one.

It's not his sole focus so unless he can offload other commitments then we need dedicated resource.

John Dennis was at the club everyday.

exactly - if this interview is not PH saying he is not doing the job hes paid to do while things carry on as they are I dont know what is. The complete silence as to why we don't have a CEO anymore is also making things even worse as it just causes further speculation so we have to read in between the lines all the time.

It happens in industry/commerce all the time and I think Hecky understands this. He wants a CEO soon as, but it has to be the right person and not just a temp. Remember, this only happened back end of last week and recruitment is not a fast process. It mat take Watkins and his mate a few days to get familiarised with our recruitment progress to date. If owt Hecky sounds frustrated more than anything.

Correct. Watkins is a fantastic person to have involved, but I don't see how he can be functioning as anything other than a NED, given all of his other commitments.
