It really boils my piss that the essential services have been sold off and are now profit making for foreign investors. Gas, water, electric and phone/broadband should all be government owned and operated for cost (including required repairs/upgrade work) with any proceeds going back into the government coffers to pay for other important stuff (healthcare, etc).

Utter ballacks. Global crash caused this, the fault of un-fettered Capitalism. Tories and New Labour let them do what the **** they wanted here but it all started with casino banking in the US.

Capitalism doesn't work now and can never work unless we are in a system with unlimited resources. For exactly the same reason that Communism can never work - the innate greed of the few to have more than their share.

I guess it depends on the deal. The transmission system is in chronic need of investment. If the have given assurances that they will invest. Then what's the issue

Richest 8 people in the world own more than the poorest 50%. Just as Karl Marx predicted. The fruits of unbridled capitalism. Problem is how do you bridle the beast without killing it?
I agree that essential services, should be owned by the people who use them.
    Gas
    Electricity
    Water
    Public transport.
The railways explode the Tory myth that everything is better in private hands.

Are you saying. They didn't. Get rid of the golden share. They one that allowed the government to veto any takeovers

But are we any worse off under privatisation? I suspect not. Theres a lot of hypocritical political nonsense . New labour were just as bad as this lot .
