Roberts is signing for Burnley. I am in no way "in the know" at the club, but trust me he is going. If you would like to know some substance to that statement feel free to PM me, but that is not why I started this thread. If we rewind to Jan 1st the club had 2 choices in my eyes: 1) Keep EVERYONE together and see how far this team could go this season. Then deal with the problem in the summer (maybe in the premier league) 2) Sell EVERYONE that we can get a decent amount of money for who isn't willing to sign a new contract. This means we are accepting this season is over (bar a relegation battle), but allows us to re-build a new team in the summer with a lot more money to do it with. Going somewhere in between these two options doesn't really offer any value. It both writes our season off AND doesn't allow is to bring in maximum money. As sad as it is, I think option 2 is the best option for us. If we get recruitment right we can come back stronger.
I got told just after the Blackpool game it was pretty much a done deal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Go on then, giz a PM. I love a bit of gossip. Onto the main thrust of your post, I think it's a difficult one. Obviously being within striking distance of the playoffs I would have liked us to keep everyone, but it appears that there was just no keeping Winnall. The problem is that if we sell everyone who is an asset then we will have to rebuild within the next 12 days. I would keep Angus and Conor until the summer - Angus because he will still have a year left on his contract and Hourihane just because he is so important and we are not definitely safe yet. I would like to keep Roberts until the summer but if he wants to go and we can get a decent sum for him then it's going to be tempting to sell.
Well if option two is the case, I feel cheated as a season ticket holder and must it feel for the coaching staff especially Hecky?
Maybe a signing or 2. if we can get the right players in. but td say what you'll find his a few sort term decent (no chance of signing) loans coming in the next 2 week... to make sure we stay in this league ,then we proper rebuild in the summer
Could you send me one as well please? Thank you. For what it's worth, if we get the 3.5 million being reported that's fine by me. I think Jackson is an able replacement.
There's no nice way to dress it up and as a fan I feel cheated too that clubs in the same division can take our best players at will and blow us out of the water financially, but unfortunately that's the world we are in. If we went with option 1 and we fell short of the play-offs, everyone walked in the summer and we got relegated next season as we had to rebuild on a limited budget with not much time to do it, I'm sure we would all want to rewind the clock and take option 2. Sad, but football has been ruined by money.
So this looks like it might have legs. **** knows who to believe these days. £3.5million good bit of business, though.
