From BBC website - "Sam Winnall's first start for Sheffield Wednesday doesn't last an hour as he is replaced by Steven Fletcher. The new signing from Barnsley has struggled to get into the game up top, like the majority of his team-mates."
Played as a lone striker. Has Carvahal done any research? He can't play that role. He'll turn into a desperation sub when they realise Winnall & Forestieri can't play together
I think we need a counter..... 102 minutes and no goals......some ROI that is .... By ROI I mean return on investnent Words like 'dud' and 'sold' spring to mind In all seriousness I don't think Winall fits their team...........
I don't share the vitriol from some on here towards him as a player. As a person, yes, he's a skunk, particularly for what he did and allowed to happen on the day of Rimmo's funeral. But I do know he won't get anywhere near the amount of chances which our approach provided him with. Let's not forget he's now playing for the team that their manager admitted he set up for a 0-0, against little old us, at home.
If I was asked to describe Winnall in a few words to someone who hadn't seen him play, a very poor mans Steven Fletcher is the best I could do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Why the daft comments? Sam did a brilliant job for us and 20 odd goals was a massive part in us getting promotion. Sour grapes just make us look small.
He obviously got tapped up and knew about a move to Wednesday before the club informed him of a bid, acted disgracefully, hope he never scores again, anyone hoping he does well is by extension hoping Wendy's do well, seems a more strange attitude to me.
He pushed for a move to one of our closest rivals. Think it's reasonable for people to hope he does poorly. We would hardly have our fingers crossed for him to score a hat-trick every week.
No sour grapes on my part, I think he's a great striker, but he needs service, he needs Hurrihaane. I don't want him to succeed at Wednesday though \nd I don't think he will, he not a hoof ball striker.
Are you mental. Sam owes us everything the coaching staff and management have put in hour upon hour to help his progress as a professional footballer, then at the first sniff of the money he's bailed . They used to hang 'em for treachery.
Let's be honest about Winnall. He's gone & joined a team where Forestieri's the main man who's just signed a new long term deal. Forestieri's a no. 10 who Carvahal generally plays behind a lone striker. Winnall isn't suited to that role. He couldn't do it in league one never mind the championship. He has none of the attributes needed to play as a lone striker. Sam & his agent know all of this yet they've still decided to completely tarnish Sam's reputation with a club who's fans loved him to join a local rival 12 miles away solely for financial reasons. So yes, if as expected he doesn't do well it's kind of satisfying. That's nothing to take away from Sam's ability as a striker in a front 2. You put someone alongside him like Watkins or Fletcher, who's strong, pacey & will make space for Winnall then he's a quality striker but that ain't happening unless something happens to Forestieri.
I am a big fan of Sam but I didn't think the Wednesday style of play would suite him. I think he is only an average striker at Championship level. He doesn't have the best shots on target to goals figures.
I posted last week. Winnall won two medals with us. JPT and Promotion. = success. Now with this lot he has joined he will win the square root of fk all. Over and out.
