Both been offered contracts but not enough money being offered. Scowen wants to sign but doesn't feel he is being offered what he's worth. Bristol City and Ipswich lingering around Watkins and Ipswich and QPR lingering around Scowen, I can see some last minute bids coming in. Just don't get with all this money we have, why we aren't offering contracts to players to what they're worth.
We might not be able to pay what Villa, Newcastle, Bristol City etc pay but we should at least be able to afford Scowen and Marley Watkins. Understand about Winnall and Hourihane but even James Bree didn't want to sign a new deal when it was offered to him last summer.
I find that hard to believe with the extra revenue this league brings the transfer fees we have been getting and we're not even in the bottom 3 or 4 for average gates this season.... w
I agree with what you're saying. I totally understand why Cryne wouldn't want to get into that rut again BUT Bree wouldn't have wanted 10k a week in the summer when he was offered a new deal. I feel we have enough to cover for Bree in Yiadom and Gethin Jones but we're being held to ransom in a way players leaving in the January before their contract is up and leaving for half the price. Winnall and Hourihane were never gonna stay but Scowen and Watkins can and if they want to rip us off and be greedy, then fine but I honestly can't see it. From what I've heard about the Scowen situation, he isn't asking for Championship wages.
New tab needed on the spreadsheet. Conditional formatting needed to show contracts with last than 12 months left in red.
10k a week seems to be the going rate for a standard championship player . Just look at the Morsy saga .
It's been reported that James Bree was on £700 a week the same amount from when he signed his contract at 16 . Not bad for a 16 year old but not quite enough for a regular championship player.
If Scowen and Watkins and possibly Roberts we'll be down to our bare bones without any experienced players to promote. We've signed no-one and there's only a week to go. I'm afraid it's the downward slide for BFC, and I would not be at all surprised to see Hecky go as well, as he has hardly been helped by the 'senior management'.
Even if we could I believe our lack of ambition dismantling a play off challenging team halfway through the season, selling our star striker to a rival, being dependent on loans etc will make them believe they are better off elsewhere somewhere that matches their own will to play as high as possible and not to chalk off a season just happy that we will probably stay up job done blah blah blah.
