Suprised with marley I thought he loved it here. He is helping Bruce dyer out with the football camps in the school holidays I'm pretty shocked maybe he has seen winnall go bree go conor set to go and thinks I'm off. Scary.
I heard he loves it here. .. I'm quickly beginning to remember how much I hate being in this league now. The minute we do well, we get picked apart by other clubs until we're in our 'rightful' place fighting relegation for 46 games. The difference this time being that I really thought with the transfer incomes we'd at least be able to hold the team we nurtured together. Bitter to see heroes chasing after coin, and us not even be able to offer the Wigan rate to take Morsy ( with a deal in place) or hang on until we get what players are worth. I get that our rise has been unexpected to a degree, but surely with the transfer incomes we will never be in a better place to tie down a successful squad for 2-3 years. We haven't got the luxury of bedding in a new squad in the summer in this division, the quality is too high. Poor Hecky
He ran down his contract at a smaller club than us and joined us as the bigger club as is the football pyramid. Now it looks like he's done the exact same to us that he did to ICT just in this situation we are ICT and whoever takes him will be Barnsley. Don't see what he's done wrong personally. We are fine when he leaves for the bigger club us but when he wants to leave us for another bigger club all of a sudden it's shady, rubbish etc.....
If true, what is really disappointing is that he apparently has so little faith in himself, Hecky and his team mates to get higher in the league, unless Brighton or similar are in for him.
According to RS last night it was the editor of the Independant who published it. Strange that out of all the sources it was him?!?
I think it would be wise for all of us to treat rumours with cynicism til they are proven to be treated otherwise. Radio Sheffield have an agenda... the Warnock incident and being dumped for their appalling biased player coverage. Sky are commonly used by agents to stir unrest and create stories. Marley was on the reds report podcast just a week ago saying what a special club it was and the bond with the fans. So let's not turn on the players and the club. If we were to believe all the rumours over the last month, we'd have no first team left. Yet only Winnall has pushed a move through. The day after the transfer window closes, lets assess then shall we?
Just think how bad the club situation must be to him as an insider if he can't wait four months or so to get himself a nice fat out of contract signing on fee....That's the worrying part. Players will talk so whilst we get press speculation he will know for players themselves how likely they are to leave, so I would say this is very bad for what we could see in the next week.
What's really starting to boil my p@@@ with all these "rumours" is that if they are true why would a player such as Marley be looking to move to a club that is likely lower down the league and with very little chance of promotion (basing this on Ipswich and Brixzle) when his contract expires in around 20 weeks. Whatever he stands to make in those 20 weeks he will easily be able to negotiate as a signing on fee in the summer. I appreciate there's always the argument that a players csreer could be ended in the next game but that's such a long shot that it shouldn't really be a consideration. Plus, the fee we'd be offered in footballing terms is hardly going to be sufficient to turn our heads. I get the Bree and Hourihane ones to some extent but still think both would be better off in the summer with a list of suitors queuing up for their services. Perhaps it is all just to unsettle things, who knows. Why wouldn't teams fighting for the play offs try to de-rail things for other clubs. It's poor form but it's not illegal. I've long thought that Sky know **** all, start rumours and then force things through to make things happen but half the time they get names or photos wrong so not sure they have any great insight. As much as people knock him, the only bloke who is often in the know is Nixon in Twitter and he's not been involved in these rumours. Gonna be painful but we'll have to sit tight for another week. I'm sure someone must be in place looking after the legal stuff at the club so still hopeful we get through relatively unscathed. Them Refs
Him putting in a transfer request just doesn't make sense - he loses out financially by doing that. He is at the same point on his contract as Winnal, Bree and Hourihan so why does he need to do it? I think one of the major problems with the current situation is Adam Armstrong. They must talk among themselves about their contacts and when the rest of the squad hear that he is on £25000 a week at Newcastle at his age and is not even a regular starter at Oakwell it must make the rest of the squad start to consider their own position.
Him or his agent have obviously been in communications with other clubs and have a deal sorted why else put a request in with 6 days left on the window. This is one I feel we should turn down and sit him in the dugout carrying the bucket for the physio on match days.
Every player is running a contract down from the moment they sign a contract. Players will talk in training, travelling to away games etc so whilst we deal with speculation he himself will have a brilliant idea of how many are likely to go in the next six days. If he's got a good idea lots of his mates he's achieved so much together are going to move on, we can't blame him for wanting to do the same. He wouldn't have handed in a request and risk nobody coming in for him if he didn't know he had plenty of options. As with any signing i'd rather he didn't sign for another Yorkshire club, Bristol City or Ipswich Town.
You seem to be struggling with the concept of "running down" a contract. That's fine, and carry on, as long as anyone reading your posts understands that you are plain wrong.
..but as I stated in the post above he doesn't need to put in a request. The interested clubs just need to put in an acceptable offer to be able to speak to him! Putting in a request doesn't make any difference to his contract or to what BFC see as an acceptable offer. Its usually done to alert other clubs to his availability but in the current situation that isn't necessary especially as we are led to believe that there are several clubs already interested. Doesn't make any sense.
I agree, however, what I don't like is how he supposedly says he loves it here, wants a new contract etc, then does a complete U-Turn and supposedly hands in a transfer request. I have a lot of admiration for him and what he's achieved here. I hope it's all a load of haggis.

Of course last week we were flogging Marc Roberts and he was having 'talks'. Except this was news to Marc and his family. Source his mum. Salt pinch take it sentence make of.
