The Bree article on the website is terrible for us....the fans!! It's got to be one of the worst I've ever seen & just shows the mess we are in right now off the pitch! 'Club representatives' 'Substantial fee' with no info on roughly how much and no mention of add on's, sell on fee's etc! Telling us how Villa are one of the biggest clubs going, and a quick one liner from Bree.

It was written like a quick business deal, done by outsiders with no feelings or emotion to our club....with a look of here's the basic info, one of you're best young players has moved on, to a bigger and better place (even though we are above them and they could be up s**t street if they don't go up next year) and we have done our best for you, never mind....next!!!

P.S. This isn't a pop at the media people who work at BFC who might have been told to write this, it smacks of an outsider, one of Watkins mates!!! Hecky must be gutted as much as we are. It looks like everyone is running for the hills as no decent contract offers are being offered, if anything at all!!! It seems like all the money is being banked for a rainy day!! Let's hope and pray we actually look to spend some decent money in the summer as it doesn't look like we are going to in January!!

It's commonplace these days for transfer market sensitive information to be withheld. We haven't divulged that sort of information for ages. I actually think this reads more professional than any of our recent statements.

I thought he'd gone to Villa?

Yes, any club that we approach about a player would instantly up the price if they know we got X million for this player and Y million for that one.

Whats wrong with it - apart from the rubbish about Villa being one of the biggest clubs...

We never give transfer fees for some reason but sooner or later we will find out - I will be amazed if there arent add ons in the deal

Other than the Bree statement being quite short (probably edited) I don't think there is much wrong with it.

    Logical, ordered, dispassionate. A statement.

never gave it a second thought tbh. during turbulent times, it tends to be easier to read into things and find fault. i do find the fee thing is a bit annoying though. it's pretty much standard practice now and i don't think it's anything to do with keeping sensitive info from other Clubs anymore. i'm pretty sure agents will know anyway. i think it's more about managing expectations with fans.

I used to think like that.

Until Jay gave his thoughts. Which quite rightly pointed out that agents players and most of the footballing world will know it.

The ones that don't are the fans. And then it gets discussed on here rumour Mills etc and 20 different fees and add ons being spouted out

And I think he is bang on the money with that thought.

It never used to bother me but it's really grinding gears now

Pretty sure any club could find out any fee through contacts if they really wanted. If we've add ons or a sell on I think we'd have said something like "future incentives" in the article so we have more doubt now.

20th biggest wage bill in football, in the world. I'd say that's pretty big

How many. Other teams can say they been champions. Of Europe. And actually have been.

No fear a that like there's no fear of the playoffs nar! Fook all ambition once again BFC! Get yer money on relegation if not this year then certainly next. The club don't deserve good support treating fans like this!

If you think the website article is terrible, what do you think of this article on the Birmingham Mail website?

    http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/spo...ews/aston-villa-transfers-news-james-12504456

New signing James Bree has set his sights on an early debut after completing his move from Barnsley today.

The right-back, who signed for around £2m will have a week to get used to his new surroundings before a potential debut at Brentford.

Villa play the Bees next Thursday and Bree will be available.

“Hopefully I can make my debut at Brentford,” the 19-year-old told the official website.

“I’ve got time to settle in and get used to the environment first.

“I don’t know any of the lads but it will be good to meet them all.

Bree explained how meeting boss Steve Bruce convinced him to leave Barnsley after five years with the club.

“When I met him I knew straight away that he was a manager I wanted to work with.

“It was a tough decision to leave but it’s a massive club I’m joining.

“It’s a bit different to Barnsley!” he added referring to the facilities at the club.]

So what can Villa fans expect from Bree?

“Someone who likes to get forward with the ball, I’m comfortable on the ball and I’m solid at the back if I need to be.

“I used to be a midfielder when I was younger but I’m mostly a right-back

“I’m also a big team player.”

Why do footballers always "know straight away" that this is the club/manager they want to play for????????

I must be on my own! It just seems like yesterday the fans and board had never been closer, we had constant information & fan interaction, now it's just nothing!! I felt really positive about this season and the next one's to come! I was loving every minute of every game. I'm just gutted about the thought of throwing it all away! My only hope is that we will actually spend some decent money (still wisely) in the summer when it is easier to buy players! I'm just not sure if we will or not with all that seems to be going on off the field, or lack of .......let's hope???

If the figure quoted in the Brummie press is accurate, then we have been buggered again!
