Both the clubs and Conor's statements brought a tear to my eye. Good luck lad.

    Understandable, but I'm absolutely gutted.

A player that epitomises spirit, integrity and character of the town.

Guts, craft and a gent. Never promised he'd stay, never showed he was eager to leave.

World class goals, assists galore, 2 wembley wins.

Conor, thank you. I wish you well and I hope you get to play in the Premier league and for your country.

    Yay, another "undisclosed" fee..

Thanks Conor for the memories and good luck for the future, hope to see you play in Premiership in the future.

Nice to see him write at some length about his time here, expressing his gratitude to the club, owner and management. He's been a model professional and has served the club well, never giving less than 100% even in the early days when quite a few on here gave him some undeserved stick. He will definitely get a place in the Oakwell Legends list.

Cheers Conor, all the best for the future (except if you're playing against us of course - I'm sure you'll get a warm reception from Reds fans when you return).

Our goals will dry up now sadly. Hope Im wrong but if Marley leaves too thatll be a real blow. Need someone in now unless James can cross the ball.

Looking at Conor in the Villa kit is like seeing your bird with a new bloke.

Heartbreaking, but expected, news. Conor is amongst my all time four favourite Barnsley midfielders now (along with Redfearn, Hignett & the best of all, Glavin). Goodbye and good luck, Conor. I wish you well in your future career, just wish it could've been with Barnsley.
After losing our best player, top scorer and talented full back in the last few weeks, the club would be barmy if it didn't expect a backlash from some fans. All the fans care what's happening down at Oakwell, as can be seen from the posts. However, just because some of us choose not to continually voice our concerns doesn't mean we don't care as much as the critics. It's now up to the powers-that-be to properly back our superb Head Coach and enable him to continue moving the club forwards. I have no doubt that if we bring in the players he wants, Paul Heckingbottom will produce the goods.

Good luck, Conor. Looking forwards to cheering you on for Ireland in the near future. Best leaving message from a player I've ever read.

Expected but still heartbroken. Second player I've shed tears over, other was Higgy, both amazing players and good blokes. He could have done much better than Villa but wish him well.

Don't forget Luke Steele's too. He phoned the club to leave a fantastic message after leaving.

Thanks Conor, and best of luck for the rest of your career! Except any games against us of course.
