Hourihane Morsy, Winnall and Bree gone. Moncur recalled, Jones and James brought in, so that's 3 in 4 out. nothing to worry about for me. We also have a number of very promising lads in the development stage that could perhaps be brought through if needed ... again nothing to worry about just now.
I'm not quite sure it works like that though - I think you have to factor in how good the players are though as well Baz.
Winnall - not replaced Hourihane - irreplaceable but bringing Moncur back from his loan deal does not even constitute an attempt to replace him Bree- Jones played as the opposite full back in his only game so no really sure he is a replacement. Especially when you consider he is not our player. Morsy - James doesn't sound like a replacement to me unless we're changing style. At best three down. We've lost four players who were 100% first choice. Plenty to worry about for me.
cannot argue with that fella but we have not really seen how good James or Jones are just yet and for that matter Moncur too. Also we might not have finished our incomings as yet. I never thought we would make the play-offs from the start of the season , I was not sure about top half to be honest. But despite recent dealings I think we will finish top half at least.
Add to that the recent return of Williams. I think we need a couple more, and Scowen and Watkins to sign extensions though.
Re: as ever its pointless to try reason I think we will bring in a CM & CF before the deadline. We have been one short in CM all season as D'Almeida is injured.
Re: cannot argue with that fella We have seen moncur was not good enough to break into a league 1 first team so to even vaguely suggest he will fill connors boots is an insult.
Aye. Anything that's different has got to be worse. In Conor's case that's true but maybe overall we will improve the squad. If you give them a chance.
If you read his opening interview notes, or listen to the lad speaking, you will know that his first choice position is RIGHT back. He only played on the left on Saturday because Bree was in his position. Perhaps you don't take any interest in what new signings have to say? He looked mightily impressive as well so with him and Yiadom in harness we will have two decent fullbacks I reckon. I KNOW he is on loan but you never know what might develop.
So he moves to RB on Saturday and that means we have to play White at LB who has looked well off it this season. What happens to Jones when Yiadom comes back?
I suspect the player to make way for Yiadom might well be White who, as you say, has looked well off it all season. I'd still prefer a left pegger there.
What gets me a bit is that if Jones was brought in to replace Bree then there is no wonder Bree has gone. We signed a replacement for him while he was still PLAYING for us. Surely that Lowers any kind of value the player has. Aston villa: we want Bree Us: no we need him. £20m if you want him Us: signs Jones to replace Bree. Aston villa: now can we have Bree? Us: no we told you, we need him Aston villa: no you don't you've just signed a reppafor him. Heres £50 for your now unsettled player Us: **** Us: signs George moncur as hourihanes replacement Us 6 months later: hey Conor do you want a new deal? You're irreplaceable Conor: you've just shown how much you think of me by not actually offering me a deal and signing a replacement. Us: **** Aston villa: can we have conor too please? We hear you signed a replacement and he's unsettled Us: **** Either one of two things is true. 1. We have signed repoacements for players before they even leave which lowers their value and lowers their feeling of being wanted by the club or 2 they aren't replacements at all and were to play as part of the squad WITH those players. Evidence for 1. Zero Evidence for 2. They played WITH their replacements which is pretty impressive feat.
