That guy happy with their model as opposed to ours? Yeah that's why you're two leagues lower then us you utter bell drop. At least one of their fans has some knowledge to put him straight.

 

The lad who really praises us then gets accused of "moshing us off" by another green pikey. They are still jelous that we developed mason holgate and sold him to Everton and he was a donny lad. Very bitter lot.

******* hell, the opening few efforts on that pitiful thread equate some of the most banal, cringeworthy 'banter' I've ever seen. Like, proper **** banter.

 

What an odd bunch when we are currently the 28th best team in the country, can dare to dream about back to back promotions and haven't been in division four for many decades.

 

No different to this forum imo ,some very knowledgeable and unbiased posters,some average posters and some utter nutjacks.

Just take their obsession with us as a compliment. They only aspire to get where we already are. Lest we forget the claims of former chairman John Ryan as they reached the Championship for the first time in over 50 years: "we are a sleeping giant" "We are a bigger club than Ipswich" The reality soon set in as they struggled to get 9-10,000 HOME fans in their new stadium.

 

I agree. Clicking on it I expected it to be full of numpties speaking absolute bobbins. To be fair its a fairly balanced thread. Some are nutjacks and some are really switched onto what we are doing. In a heart beat every one of them would switch positions with us and our methodology.

I think the country actually wants us to do well. In the main we are quite well liked as a club, still regarded as a proper club, which we are.

I love the fact that out of all the crap we've had to go through, we haven't had to get a rich mega rich benefactor ploughing absolute millions in and we have done well by keeping our self respect and footballing values in place.

Last year though we were still one of the bigger fishes with one of the bigger wage bills, we need to remember that. We need to remember that when we talk about other clubs further down the pyramid.

 

Unfortunately for Donny, a bigger town than Barnsley, most of the football supporting residents are Leeds fans.

I was reading that their academy has made just over £15 million from sales since 2012, an academy that also had Jordan Rhodes in it who left when his dad took up a new position at Ipswich.

They'll probably slip to mid-table with 60/65 points but will finish the season with £20 million in transfers including the £6.8 million Stones sell on, ready to add again in the summer. Sky reporters at their recent two live games were saying scouts from most of the Prem teams are there each game watching their development of youngsters and offering their own on loan. Hence quite a lot of Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd loanees there over recent season.

I love the 'They must be cheesed off about losing James Breed' comment. Quality. Though someone states that they are the best run club in the country. As far as I know, they have three very wealthy board directors who can't stand the site of each other. The most sensible post on there is from Jim Dobbin, it could actually be him too.

I think Jim Dobbin is a closet Barnsley fan - only ever says good things about us. Good poster.

 

Celtic's his passion, but he loves Barnsley and his son has a season ticket.

 

Some of them are like some of our own fans. They have little understanding or prefer to make it up as they go along.

We've lost 3 players. Not ideal, but we've moved to replace them, and tied down our great young keeper for longer to give more value.

We're not in disarray at all. As of this morning were 8th in the championship, and have almost enough points on the board to plan for next season.

I don't really care that they're at the top of the pub league, playing in front of 5k. We haven't been that low for almost 40yrs.

It's ok them poking fun at us losing some of our better players, but at least we've got those players that other clubs rate so highly to say a reputed 18 and 28k a week, and we will replace them with more to add to the ones that remain. Can they say the same?

As for the bit about selling players to make ends meet. Isn't that what we all do?,although I would imagine our bank balance compares favourably with theirs.
