The next 3 matches are huge for us

We've got 3 very winnable games in a row now before pretty much 2 months worth of games where we'll very much be the underdogs.

For me this season hinges on these next 3 matches. If we can get 9 points out of Rotherham, Wolves and Preston, then maybe that will give us the lift we need for a spell of games where we almost exclusively play against teams above us or at not so happy hunting grounds.

After that, barring Newcastle on the final day, we've got a run in made up entirely of teams in the bottom 3rd. It's not the worst run in so long as we can consistently pick up points throughout February and March, and that will only happen I feel with 3 more positive results prior in games where you'd fancy us to win.

Can see us picking up points against Huddersfield QPR Ipswich and Wednesday.

 

Think once we get to the 50 point mark (though 52 gives more breathing space historically), this seasons target to stay up has been achieved allowing us to go into the tough run of games under no pressure, so anything could happen.
That's worst case scenario though, because I'm still looking up the table as to where we can go, not down it.

 

We can beat anybody on our day

 

Absolutely. We could even cause an upset at Newcastle, last game of the season, once we're safe and only playing for pride. Fear nobody!!!

 

If we win the next three we will want to find out if we have a buy back for Hourihane should we get promoted. Be a shame next season to be playing top flight football without him.

 

A buy back clause seems highly unlikely .

 

Absolutely

I just think that we're more likely to have 'our day' against the top teams in this league if we go into those games off the back of a positive result the previous week.

On paper I think in that run of 9 games, 15 points would be an exceptional haul. If we get 9 points prior to that (12 if you include the Leeds result), I think we'll be better placed to pick up points in those 9 games than if we say have a couple of poor results against the likes of Rotherham and Preston.

I'm sure if we go up and Villa don't, we will be able to buy Hourihane back. We'll just have to stump up ten million quid, and £28,000 a week for 4 years.

8 sounds a little pessimistic to me. I make it 11 from that run.

 

All games are tough. But when we began December in 18th and 1 win in 11, we were about to play Birmingham away and Norwich at home. 2 very difficult games on paper. 6 points. We can beat anyone on our day and there's no reason we won't get a decent amount of points from that difficult run of fixtures. Except QPR where we haven't won for about 70 years

 

Forget about Q.P.Rangers away, thats one of our worst ever fixtures!
I will take a point today as it puts us that bit nearer to 50+ points.

 

If we can win at QPR, I'll really start believing that the playoffs are possible!

 

Burton Albion did it !

 

We struggled earlier in the season in that run of games when we had our tricky period and I think we will again. 2 wins a 2 draws from those games would be an OK return.

 

I've just looked this up as I couldn't believe so many people were confident about getting summat at QPR. We have won once ever there, and that was in 1950. But it was 5-0!

 

We are surely due to get something there. Having said that, when they were bottom of the league and completely crap we still managed to lose there 2-0. Our team now is much better than it was then, but even our brilliant promotion side lost there. Twice!

 

One major plus is that barmy nutter is managing them.

This is the year we beat them. And beat them well
