The only interpretation you need is the evidence before your eyes ,why complicate it to push a point ?

In no way whatsoever can anyone challenge it. To date it's been a massive success

I get that bit. It's also done with minimal risk in that we won't offer long or highly paid contracts even if that means losing the players for a price below th it market value.

So we buy low and sell high(er) - then what happens? Once we've got £30, £40 £50 million under the mattress what do we next? What's the long term plan fir squirrelling away all of this money for a rainy day that may never come?

It's called having a discussion. It's the reason this board exists. You are under no obligation to contribute to or even read this thread.

True, it'd be nice to know where we are heading. It'd also be nice to know if the decision makers share most fans belief in the current head coach & players.

I'm not asking you not to comment. You are as entitled to your opinion as much as I am. I'm sure the plan goes beyond yesterday's game or selling Conor Hourihane. I am asking what the medium to long term aims are. Surely that's a reasonable question.

I didn't say it wasn't reasonable ,I put my opinion forward albeit robustly and you hinted for me not to comment because it wasn't one of the answers you wanted.
You should put warnings on your posts " only posts agreeing with me allowed"

    In a nutshell.
However, the longer we're playing at this level, hopefully the better the financial package offered to incoming players, whilst still maintaining a sound financial footing. Also, I'd like to think we're building a reputation within the industry for developing players, which makes us quite an attractive proposition for any potential purchases.
The progress the club, and it's players, has made since the end of 2015 has been astonishing. The rate of progression will fluctuate, dependent on the availability of players we can attract, in my opinion. It will be necessary to accept this during the quieter times, when an argument will be put forward that the club is stagnating or regressing, rather than progressing at a slower rate than previously.
    Evolution rather than revolution?

As we sell players for more we will buy players for more. There will be risks that don't work for the club but in the long run.

Southampton started buying players for 10 million now and more.

I read a article on it just the other day.

    Found it http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-4161718/Why-Southampton-good-talentspotting.html

I'm not going around in circles with you again. You can either tell me what you think the long term aims of the plan are or what the plan actually is or we can leave it there. You are free to completely disagree with everything I say. I don't mind. You just haven't actually said anything in this thread other than the plan is working. That is not what I am asking.

We've seen a revolution since Johnno thankfully disappeared over the sunset. Obviously that can't be sustained. We're going to have periods where we don't have assets to sell but our income to expenditure should mean that this isn't a problem. I'm sure our wage bill falls within our turnover without needing to subside it with transfer fees.

Surely there has to come a time where you have reached a level where you have enough brass to be more "ambitious" in the transfer market. Is this part of the plan and if so at what point?

Which is the point I was trying to make in my second sentence. For me, that'd be the next stage of progression.

I'd say that the plan should be to keep generating enough money to keep us in this division for the forseeable future. That's going to take a lot of money.
If we succeed in that and hang around long enough then one season there's a chance everything clicks into place like it did in 97 and ee go up.
I like the look of The lad we've brought in from Leeds. He's clearly got talent and an eye for goal. If we can mould him like we did Conor then he could be another to bring in a lot of money or he could be part of a side that really clicks and hits the jackpot.
