Re: remind me.... who was in charge when we went into administration

Football has changed massively in those 20 years with teams spending 15 million on one player in the 2nd tier now and recieving 40 million from coming down from the premiership. John Dennis did well 20 years ago but football has changed massively. One of Crynes biggest mistakes if not the biggest was re appointment of Wilson.

    Creditors. Not debtors.

Creditors are the people who are owed money.

Debtors are those that owe it.

Indeed. I copied from the previous post. My mistake. Point still stands.

Your point was about Cryne and his tenure not bring as good as Dennis's.
The fact globe coaches not doing business with us is more to do with admin than the present custodian.
Not being self righteous in any way but it boils my piss when people pull Crynes tenure down and compared it with Dennis .
Dennis's tenure wasn't all that before promo ,yes he got us to promised land which was more to do with Danny Wilson than massive investment but credit where Credits due we got there.
After that he nearly lost our club chasing the dream again .
Surely he knew what would happen if we didn't get there.?
He was pulling the purse strings ,he knew we would be in serious trouble if the unstable digital TV deal didn't fulfil its potential .
Patrick Cryne pulled this club from the brink ,everyone wanted a piece and the vultures got hold of it.
As far as Cryne not going in for the club earlier ,he clearly stated he didn't want to own the club and probably hoped someone stepped in ,Hayselden for example,
The fact he only stepped in when it was obvious the conglomerate were putting on the squeeze was a massive relief me and even if we were to go into conference I wanted my club saving .
The fact it was saved and we are enjoying the success we have is brilliant imo.
You also talk of the Dennis era as if we hadn't had any good times under Cryne also.
Well I was at Liverpool and down at Chelsea game with a trip to Wembley .
We may not have got to Orem but I'm more confide t that if we do and get relegated we won't suffer the same consequences.

I don't know what Dennis was thinking at the time but he made a mistake- of course he did. A lot of clubs blamed the collapse of ITV Digital but that seems a bit convenient and simplistic so I don't know. Let's not forgot that when Ridsdale was Chairman Cryne allowed him to go well over budget and he also made some very questionable decisions. I would say Dennis was more successful picking managers.

Be honest - which period did you find more enjoyable 1989 to 2002 or 2003 to the present?

Yes I did, but it wasn't all great was it? To try and insuate that last 12 months apart, at best it's been average under Cryne's ownership is incorrect.

I enjoyed both but the first period will always be marred imo by the admin era .
We haven't had the ultimate season in the latter part but have been enjoyable with the knowledge we are in safe hands .
The Anfield Chelsea games were brill. The ensuing trip to wembley. The great escape ( even though I'd preferred not to be in that position.
Tbh I've enjoyed my time under all chairmanship ,
When I really thought we'd lost the club and we didn't everything goes into perspective and realise all the **** seasons, games are all part and parcel and need to be endured /enjoyed as a whole rather than excerpts.
Although the last 13 months have been exceptional by any standard I
