Wolves in form and off the back of a win at Anfield - I think we were better than them on the whole, even with 10 men in the 2nd half. 2 poor goals to concede from set pieces, off the back of another against Leeds - something we need to be working on.

Reading the forum, and the armchair whingers are out in force. Forgive me for ignoring your insightful thoughts. Surely there are better things to do with your evening, if you can't make the game?

Some neat football in the first half, and a golden chance for Mowatt brought a great save from the keeper. 2 decent shouts for penalties waved away.

Chances in the 2nd half for James, Williams and Hammill, if taken create a very different picture. Wolves offered very very little, even with the man (or two man if you count the ref) advantage.

And the referee, wow. So much ineptitude to choose from, really didn't think they could sink any lower, but this lad managed to take it a few notches beyond anything I've seen. Foul against Evans in the build up to the goal - never. Didn't book Edwards for dissent in first half, booked him for standing on Scowen in the 2nd. Penalty decision wrong, then reversed it by giving us a free kick rather than them a corner - how? And then the final act - watch Weimann stand 2 yards from free kick, do nowt then book him when Hammill hits him with the free kick. Pace out 6 yards and spray a line for him to stand on. 2 mins later, another free kick and the crowd chanting 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 as he counts the 'yards' (small steps) and stops at 7!

It was a disappointing night, because we had enough to beat them. Was surprised by the team selection, but actually thought the interplay between Williams, Mowatt, Hammill and Kent helped us play round them in the first half, so thought Hecky was vindicated.

Which brings us on to Hecky - it takes something to make him lose his rag like that. Hope the inevitable touchline ban doesn't affect us.

Chalk it off - on to Preston on Saturday.

Finally - "where are the strikers?" - look on the official site, we've just signed a 6ft 3in forward.

    You reds

Hes a winger mate. Though I don't disagree with your other sentiments

I've never seen him play, but the announcement on the official site says he can 'comfortably operate' as a winger or a striker. At 6ft 3, it at least suggests Hecky has picked out the need for a big lad in the forward areas.

Another positive for me was Williams, looked decent in general.

Terry Henry was a winger when he started at Arsenal ;)

Decent summary, The Watkins header at the near post was another miss. The sending off incident was almost comical, Their player Price leaves the ground and gets the ball just as the ref blows his whistle in comes Mowatt with both feet and lands on Price. I was expecting a red for both players, but no, Mowatt rightly walks, we get the free kick and Price gets away Scott free, unbelievable.

Talking to Yeovil fans last night. Always a winger both f UK or them and Orient hence his poor goalscoring record. Kent is also described as a forward /winger.

Fair enough. I guess the thinking then is it frees Watkins to play up front more often, which for me is a positive when employed alongside Bradshaw or Armstrong.

Quite right, if Watkins is to play up top he has to play with someone, not on his own.

Yes I'd agree about it freeing up Watkins. Though I'd expect him to be more development squad than first team based on what they were saying.

Good summary. A frustrating night, but with a bit more luck and better play in both areas we could have won. Move on. Nights like these happen and there'll be more before the end of the season. Didn't think we played any worse than at home to Blackburn, but we're just punished for our errors
