I can see them in the **** next season when their parachute payments have ended. I'm still hacked off that we couldn't compete with Wigan, yes fecking Wigan, for Morsey.

In 2015 Wigan made a loss of £11m. That is inclusive of their parachute payments.

At that point they had a net debt of £25m.

Do you want Barnsley to follow down the same path as Wigan?!

Their debts are currently £9.5 m plus...they would stand at £24m were it not for the last parachute payment .

Where the **** have I said I wanted that?

I've pointed out that Wigan have sold a player for £7 million then gone on to say they were £16 million better off than us before a ball was kicked.

How you draw from that I want us to "go down that path" baffles me.

I wasn't drawing parallels with Wigan. I just think we could have reinvested some of the money we've made on replacing the players we've lost. I didn't want the lad from Grimsby but we are short up front, more so with Payne going out on loan. It's been a pretty awful January.

Apologies... wrong reply to. Was referring to the reinvestment statement.

Was suggesting that Wigan are up to eye balls in debt. The fact they got £7m doesn't stop them sinking further into debt so they're happy to gamble away a few million more, because if they go down they'll be even more millions in debt than the millions in debt they're going to be anyway.

I'm in agreement we might have fetched someone in , I think it's likely a deal has fallen through at the last , otherwise there would be no good reason to let a body , ( on I assume not big wages ) go out .

Totally agree. I would rather we have a club my son can support in the future, than chasing the dream in the short term.

We've had an amazing 12 months. Fantastic. And yes finally we will end a year with a profit. Not great, given the transfer fees are staggered over the next 3 years, but on initial analysis we are likely to see our first operating profit since the club was purchased by Patrick.

We could splurge this year, in the hope of getting into the playoffs. And hope we keep on out performing Wednesday, villa, derby, Fulham, etc. But I like the fact the club are thinking long beyond this season. We have to. On our turnover we simply won't exist unless some people make those tough calls.

We have only ever had one season in the premiership. But we've had lots of amazing nights and memories before and since. For me, supporting this club is not about being in the top division. It's every result we get where we beat someone spending ten times what we spend. It's getting to Wembley twice in a year and winning. Those memories will live with me forever. That is what this club means to me.

And I really hope my son gets to have a few moments like that when he's older. I don't want the premiership if it means even a small risk on our long term stability. If it happens, it will be a culmination of a few good seasons of player development, profit, and a coach like Hecky.

That was my comment but I wasn't suggesting we get into debt or even follow the same path as clubs like Wigan however I do think we must reinvest money to try and compete. There has to be a balance found and I feel we've fallen short of achieving a balance during this January.
