It's that level of incompetence. Truly awful ref being played by the Wolves players at every opportunity. Mowatt challenge was not good but there was an equally horrible one just before by them. Watkins just been penalised for having his neck yanked. At 1-0 I thought we were playing well but had no chance cos of the ref. Now we'll be lucky to escape with less than 5. Feel sorry for the players cos everything is being given to Wolves. Only the linesman saved the ref re the penalty. This is not a night to get on the players backs or start doom mongering. We're playing v the ref.
I'm not at the game but listening to Wolves player....even their commentators have said we're (Wolves) getting the rub of the green as far as the refereeing goes .
Correct. Cant believe coaching staff couldn't see every front post set piece whizzing past Mowatts head and didn't change it.
I'm sorry, too easy to blame the ref. Started with no forwards and then get caught out with awful defending. The less said about Mowett the better.
Ref was jokingly awful missed Davies handballing 10 yards out of the area and marked out 7 yards that he wouldn't change even when Josh subtly look pointed it out.
Whilst the result was more down to slack marking, it says everything when the only decision he did get correct was the sending of our own player. Topped off by a wall 6 yards away from the ball and our own keeper handling the ball in S71 and getting away with it. He was feckin useless. And spineless. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
This needs putting in massive lights. I didn't think we could have worse than what we have seen so far this season. How wrong was I.
The ref actually pointed towards the North Stand which indicated he had give a free kick to the reds and then he changed his mine and sent Mowatt off. For the second goal he gave a free kick against us when our player took the ball cleanly. The penalty my god what an incompetent. Willard school of total incompetence. The ref needs a 200 game ban.
That , to me, was the single worst half of refereeing standards I've seen for years. Body check in area, 4 blatant handballs, the most ridiculous shirt pulling going unpunished, Watkins pulled to the floor by his face, the free kick that led to their goal, Williams wiped out from the back twice and on and on. We, as a club, have to call this **** out. He made the second half a non event. Disgraceful. Don't get me wrong, weak defending cost us the goals but this inept crank has to be brought to task
Wolves played him all night, despite getting 3 booked before the Mowatt tackle. by which time, the tone of the game was set and Mowatt had taken enough clattering. I thought it was a matter of time til we'd have 10 each. Clear penalty for a foul on Williams at 1-0, in an area of the pitch only West-standers can clerly see, the ref wasn't even looking at the play. The penalty award and Josh wall was just comedy. A game we didn't have to lose and the ref had a big hand in that.
He didn't change his mind - he DID give us a free kick, which restarted the game after Mowatt left the pitch. That's the 2nd time this season we've had one of our players sent off for a challenge after we've been awarded a free kick!
Not blaming the ref for our formation or awful defending from set pieces. Blaming him for total incompetence and the fact that at 1-0 down it was obvious he'd be bullied into decisions by their players. He was a joke. We were the better side in the second half. Would love to see the incident with WIlliams in the penalty are again.
My 'fave' ref moment this evening was when we had that free kick that Hammill skimmed the net roof in the last min. He paced out 6 strides, then was stood in front of the Wolves wall, so paced the other 4 strides out by walking around the wall tis true:-
Thing is, we all knew at (or even before) 1-0 we were getting nothing from him. When a ref puts his whistle in his mouth to give you a free kick, then waves play on cos he sees a Wolves attack unfolding, you know you've got nowt to come. I don't normally buy into the "biased" thing, but I was ready to leave at half time. Only reason I didn't was because I felt our players deserved support regardless of the refs influence on the game.
The ref was absolutely abysmal tonight. There can be no excuses for a performance as bad as we saw from him. How the hell did he miss the foul just before the penalty? It was absolutely blatant. Fortunately the linesman got something right. FFS something has to be done about the standard of refereeing we're seeing. It's totally unacceptable at this level of football.
