I personally think once we get Yiadom back we'll be fine. As for Saturdays game I see no reason why we cant beat Preston with Scowen and James in the middle with Armstrong and Bradshaw upfront. When Hourihane left we were 4 points off the Play-offs. Now we're 2. Last night was just one of them nights for me and I still thought we looked okay.
No reason at all if we play our game not theirs. 4411 can work away from home but it helped wolves not us last night. Of course, the squad has seeen a large level of turnover - we may have lost only 3 players but 2 of those were often our route to goals, we need to find new routes as per Rotherham. We have to hope that the players we've brought in who have been injured, James and the other lad from Leicester get up to speed quickly as otherwise all we are doing is getting them fit for Leicester's benefit. I did worry when I saw the lineup but could understand why Hecky would rest our only two strikers.
I know you've took RedArmyChris sentence there with regards to Bogle/Payne, we'll see how that stat holds up now. Bogle has made the step up into the Football league and continued to score, Payne is at Shrewsbury so we'll see how he gets on in League One. This two to three million PC thing every season, now looking at the accounts on companies house website didn't we make a profit of £1.91 million in 2013 and just broke even in 2012? Am l missing something here, l'm no Accountant so l may be missing a loan he's put in on the sheets somewhere. I know there's a loan outstanding to him (is this recurring on each tax years?) and he covers the overdraft facility with the bank. PC has also recently gone on record saying we've never made a profit whilst he's been the owner? FA Cup semi final season, we didn't make a profit??
That's his choice to do that. We haven't asked him as fans to do so. I find it mental that on our crowds we can't be run in the black. How does Oldham survive year on year with both the successful Manchester big clubs on their doorstep? We shouldn't be operating at a loss.
We needed to do what others have done to us target players we want with little time left on their contract as we did with Mowatt we should have done with at least 2/3 more. We should also have taken advantage of Mcgeehan's injury to sign him. We will get nowhere near him in the summer. I don't advocate daft spending but the over reliance on loans doesn't add value or build for the future. At the minute we barely have the numbers to fill a competent match day squad.
Yes we've panicked alright, on the verge of a realistic playoff push and sold some of our best players who could have got us there for a few million and replaced with loanees and unknown quantities for this Barnsley team. Well done Barnsley FC for throwing away a great opportunity.
This was my thinking too. We're safe now, so no panic buys. We may lose a few in the summer, plus the loans will go back. Reassess in May and move forward.
