I was seething last night, after seeing us lose to a less talented but extremely physical Wolves team. We don't help ourselves, though, by repeating the mistakes of the Leeds game and fail to defend dead ball situations. I was disappointed to see both Armstrong and Bradshaw on the bench, but we were still able to create decent chances. However, the ****ing referee! His performance was the worst I've seen at Oakwell since Gary Willard. The only decision he got right was with the sending off. His performance throughout was utterly shameful in the extreme. It was a disgusting & pathetic challenge from Mowatt, in my opinion, and he deserved to go. Up to that point I thought he'd shown glimpses of the positives he could bring to the side. The game had certain similarities to the home match with Forest, for me. We ended up losing a game in which we could and should have done much better. Like the Forest match, I'm hopeful we can move on very quickly. I'm in my late fifties, so should not become the raging lunatic I turned into after the match. The referee really made me lose my rag and that simply shouldn't happen. I know football is an emotional, passionate game, but I'm old enough to know better. At this point, I can only humbly apologise to barnsley66 for my rantings. You shouldn't have to put up with such antics and I'll endeavour to act more maturely from now on.
Judging by your avatar, you've aged really well..... I'll be coming up on saturday, we should meet, I think we might have a lot in common.
Well, I'm determined not to go around looking to punch the teeth out of anyone who has the audacity to disagree with me. I'll be the big bloke whose friend is persistently calling him a "great, stupid pillock"!
Part of being a proper fan old boy! Only with hindsight can most of us see that overall we got what we deserved. BTW spot on about Mowatt and the ref. What I don't get about a lot of the posts elsewhere on this site is that we`ve lost a game of football - isn`t the first and won`t be the last. If we won every game and always were brilliant it wouldn`t be worth watching.
Where do you sit? I normally go in the Ponty somewhere near the West Stand corner flag. Me and my dad used to stand down in the corner.
I'm still embarrassed when reflecting on my ramblings. Come Saturday and I'll be chomping at the bit to get down for the Preston game.
well when you go off on one like that.... and I feel I know you very well my friend.... but when you go off like that then it must have been dreadful. I would not get too shameful fella you have every right to have a rant now and again. You have earned that right over the many years you have been going. Hopefully we can rally and move on starting Saturday. A good many changes have occurred over the last weeks and as such a gel time will be needed yet again. It would have been nice to have won and gone above the pigs, but there is still plenty of time for that to happen yet.
Nice one, mate. It's always good to put a face to a name from on here. You may get the opportunity to meet nezbfc & Jay, too, as they both sit near me. Look forward to it.
It was a blatant foul on Scowen. Although the referee's decision to award a penalty to Wolves summed him up perfectly. The fact that the linesman got him to change his mind doesn't alter my opinion of his performance one jot.
Re: well when you go off on one like that.... I'm looking forward to watching Ryan Hedges & Matty James on Saturday.
Aye it was. What got me was the linesman never even raised his flag to indicate a foul and only called the refs attention after player and fan fury. I don't think I've lost my rag much like that previously at a game. Ashamed of the expletives leaving mouth whilst our kid was at the side of me. (Although I know he was ranting too) I then proceeded to stand up and applaud for the correct decision being made. Quite why I've no idea. It shouldn't even have need to have been discussed or debated.
I can't remember if I swore, or not, old mate. But if I did, then I apologise profusely for doing so in front of your lad. It would've been totally out of character.
