be aware the Little Hitlers who issue tickets for littering are now trying to issue them for emptying cups of water down a grate on Eldon Street

Are you of the opinion that people shouldn't be fined for littering? (putting the cup of water issue to one side for a moment).

The 'lesser' end of the 'crime' are always the easiest to target and often go a long way towards obtaining the required stats. Not that I'm condoning any form of littering, As a dog owner who always picks up after his dog, it annoys me see dollops all over the place.

I'd have litter louts picking litter for a day rather than fine them. I'd also stipulate a achievable minimum amount of litter they'd have to collect

Leave that for the cowboy builders who incorporate clearing waste in their bills, then proceed to dump it illegally.

    Have I?

Are you saying that you personally did something that you don't think is acceptable?

The guy involved owns and works a shop there and was rinsing his mug out rather than go upstairs to wash it.

The thread discussed fines for littering. I mentioned I'd been fined for littering.

Not sure I need to to apologise or condemn myself.

I certainly won't be doing it again, therefore the deterrent works. Most expensive *** I've had.

not at all its just a shame they did away with the street cleaners.

Costs money to employ street cleaners. They make money fining folk for littering.

I'm of the opinion socially unacceptable behaviour and behaviour that erodes the quality of our lives should be punished

I agree. And I take my punishment on this and will not be dropping one in future.

However, let's not pretend they're doing this for any reasons other than making money.
