Blob, more yankys voted for clinton than this Tw@t Trump. Original question marching int tarn against Trump, yes I'll be there and let's hope them racist UkIP skin eeads come to interfere because I'd love to tango.
Clinton was discredited by scandal after scandal, the media went after her in the same way they are after Corbyn here. There is a youtube video about somewhere with tory voters loving his policies until they find out it's Corbyn's policies, very telling.
Ignoring everything else in this thread, I wanted to respond to this bit on its own as I've seen a few people saying this now. I think people are drawing parallels between Trump now, at the beginning of his Presidency, and Hitler's beginnings. I don't think anyone is daft enough to say Trump is as bad NOW as Hitler was at the height of his power - of course there is no comparison at all when you consider even half of the things Hitler went on to do. However, Hitler didn't start off by murdering Jews; it's easy to look back in hindsight but things started very gradually in 1930s Germany. That is why people are protesting and sending out warnings now, to try and warn people to never let things get that far again.
when you think about it (whatever your opinion of him) its a bit ironic, people are upset about Trump (temporarily) banning free movement to the extent that they are protesting and signing petitions to stop him a democratically elected leader travelling here
Oh the irony of someone defending a man who claims desperate refugees pose a mass threat to US national security accusing me of 'scare tactics and nonsense'.
Lefty ********? No, it's about common decency. If Donald trump spoke Korean or Chinese or Russian a hell of a lot more people would be up in arms but because he speaks English it's just his view. He is an incredibly dangerous fascist
But protesting against an American president, in Barnsley. What do you hope to achieve? It does feel a bit pointless to me. What am I missing? (I think the guys a dangerous **** btw)
I can see this point, but then what about protesting in the past against, say apartheid in South Africa? I think this is more generally about people's reaction to the collapse in confidence of the West and the scary societal regression that we seem to have embarked upon
But their was a realistic end game with apartheid protests outside of South Africa e.g. Getting corporations to end investment in South Africa, get governments to introduce sanctions. Im failing to see similar with this
You did change your question in response to be fair. Either way there's probably a good chance of impeachment
According to Nick Hewer on Question Time just now, you can only get 2-1 at William Hill on Trump being impeached this term, so we could be in luck.
I don't want to be misinterpreted on this point but I fear that isn't going to be possible however I will say it anyway. Trump will give reasons of terrorism and national security for his stance on immigration and travel from predominantly Muslim countries whereas no such reasons existed in regards to Hitler and his derranged dislike of Jews and other minorities. As I have said I don't agree with him, I think he's probably going to do more harm than good with his travel ban but at the heart of it I think he believes that he is improving national security. I get that people are anxious about his executive order but I didn't see any protests or marches against any countries who have imposed travel bans on Jews.
To be fair though Jews were the Muslims of the day in terms of global scaremongering. It wasn't a German issue but an international one as prevalent here as anywhere but without the same economic depression and anger to channel as Hitler tapped in to. Regarding your other point I just think people hold the leader of the free world up to a higher standard of scrutiny then unelected heads of states in often failed nations
I think any UK protest has as much to do with the message it sends to Theresa May as anything. Thanks to Brexit we have her licking his boots in order to secure a trade deal instead of taking a lead and attempting to keep him in check. I know every country has to be pragmatic but there are limits and appeasing Trump is, for me, beyond the pale.
Just this. "We defended other countries boarders while we failed the protect our own" Same could be said of a few more countries
