Can I just say..

I was about to Google the angel Gabriel for an enlightenment until i realised you meant the bird with the eye patch .

 

And she'll never play at Sheffield Arena if she gets rid of her best drummer and backing singers .She'll be stuck in the City Hall for eternity.

 

Much prefer City Hall. Saw Levellers there when I was 15 years old, amazing gig.

The City Hall was it in the 70's. Saw Roxy Music, T Rex, Dire Straits, Joan Armatrading, Uriah Heep, Yes, Rick Wakeman there. And I didn't even get to Bowie or Thin Lizzy. Even got on stage myself in the chorus on one of our speech days there, but that's a whole other story!

 

Thin Lizzy were the warm up act for Slade (before Suzy Quattro came on) when I saw em at City Hall. They sang Whiskey in the Jar twice, and were not at all loud.

 

Recruitment over the past couple of years has been fantastic. Coaching has probably been even better as the improvement we've seen from a number of players has been remarkable. But we're still selling players for way under their value and still allowing players to run down their contracts, which the club don't appear to view as a mistake, it seems to be policy. Some of us find that very difficult to understand and extremely frustrating.

 

I hope the likes of Stones and Mawson have brilliant premiership careers. I hope Bree and Hourihane do fantastic for Villa and make us more money. It's only Winnall where it's hard to not want us to make anymore from in add ons but I really do hope flops there.

We have weakened our team unless one of our newbies is statistically the best player in the league and one of the others a twenty goal a season striker. I'd have liked us to have not become dependant on loans again like we said wouldn't happen again. I would have liked for us to not get shut of players until we have a replacement in like we said we would do also. Of course wherever we finish at the end of the season we will be wondering what if we hadn't sold a third of our first team eleven during the course of it, but whilst I was dissapointed with the sales I understand it. I just thought the 'spreadsheet' that hasn't done pretty well for us we'd have had a player indentified to be brought in when the inevitable outgoings happened.

I do believe plenty has been learned from the January transfer window. I'm positive in the future that we won't allow so many star players get so close to leaving for nothing. That we will a year in advance put people on the transfer market if they won't sign up for longer or when we sign someone have an automatic extension in their contract we can activate like Davies.

 

I happen to believe the Club have done the right thing on all three players. But I would say that. Anyway, good to see you back posting.

 

I totally agree and fully support the club with its financial strategy, its recent buying/selling activity.

If we compare the line for, say, the Cardiff game in mid-December and the line up for the Wolves match I believe we have at present a weaker team.
and that has implications for the rest of the season.
I don't think it's being disloyal to say that.

In the English cricket team were Root and Morgan not available we'd accept that the team was weakened because of this - similarly if the Tennis Davies Cup Team didn't have the Murray brothers we'd say we had a weakened team.

If you think the present team is as strong as the team of a month ago then you are getting it wrong.

 

Totally understand some people have that point. And believe me when I'm not pointing this at you. Only in response to what you have put.

Personally I can't call if it was right on all 3 players as I don't know what we sold them for or future add ons are.

If CH was 3 million for example. Even more I'd agree.

If he was 1 million or less. I disagree.

Simple fact is a lot of us are not able to have that info and see everyone squabbling with all sorts of amounts and it's difficult to see who is right or telling the truth.

So have we done right with all 3. No idea until.i know how much. At this stage I'm inclined to question the club on its policy because I'm not in receipt of the full facts to call the judgement.

Again not dig at you but a response into why some of us might feel a bit dubious. We have history. And that history has always been 'the don' style sales. So I'm sure you can understand the reservation in some of us.

Anyway. Wolves defeat was obvious. And probably Saturday too. It's what barnsley do when they are up near the top. Beat the teams not expected but then lose against ones we 'shouldn't'

Still we all know we have excelled more than expected

 

Some will interpret the respective ins and outs as a signal that we have given up on the season. They can't really blame fans if they do the same.

I've enjoyed the BBS of late. Its at its best when there's some gallows humour. No fun to have when all is rosey in the BFC garden. Not that everything isn't still good but it's nice to have a few things to take the piss out of.
