So when are you marching against all the countries who ban Jews who have visited Israel? When are you marching against countries where women have no rights? When are you marching against countries who lock up journalists without trial?

And what is so called democracy? Is that when there is an outcome that you don't like?

Personally I think that's what those on the march today are doing to themselves.

Fair enough. It wasn't really a question for you personally, it was a question for anyone who challenges democracy but ignores other issues such as anti semitism, human rights abuses, dictatorships (anti democracy) the inhuman treatment of women and just generally apply double standards to the causes they want to fight for.

But you received an answer to the question. I won't be attending the Trump-a-thon though I do think there are alarming parallels to Trump's view on Muslims and the ideas of an early Adolf.

I have been on several anti Saudi demos over the years. For a bit I worked on project in Palestine based around cultural understanding. Making sweeping statements about people you don't know the background to and what they may or may not of done is a little naive.

Also it's just a crude deflection tactic to say why not protest against X that makes a protest against Y invalid. At the time of the American Civil War women were treated as second class citizens the white poor were better than slaves but lived and worked in appaling conditions. Should they not have bothered trying to fight slavery because of these other issues? I expected better of you tbf.

You're missing my point. I haven't said anywhere that not marching against any of the issues I have raised invalidates the point of the march today (the fact that I don't think there is a point is irrelevant). I am asking why people are so quick to march against a democratically elected leader and the most common answer I am hearing is his Muslim travel ban and his views on women.

Firstly it isn't a Muslim travel ban however there are currently sixteen (I think) countries that have banned Jews from entering their country. Where is the protests about this?

Secondly his views on women are crude and disrespectful in my opinion but that is all they are, crude juvenile opinions. He doesn't persecute women, ban them from doing things that men can do, stone them, whip them or lock them up for being women.

I don't think my views on the anti Trump protests are controversial. I get why people are concerned about him being in a position of such power but he was democratically elected and as such I believe there are many more issues, of greater significance, that need focus than the election of the president of America.

PS. I still don't agree with you on the parallels between Trump and the early years of Hitler for the reasons I have expressed earlier in this thread.

Stage a protest about the Yemen I may be tempted to attend. There are of course differences between 'democratic countries' taking such a stand and non democratic ones? Are any Western European or North American countries on the list that bans Jews? I think we both know the answer is no. If the UK banned Jews tomorrow do you think it would be appropriate to protest or because there are no riots in the streets regarding Bhutan we should/would just let it pass.

I know you don't agree but there was many years of policy development before the final solution. It's not something I prescribe to either but religious persecution is a slippery slope. Blaming a religion for a countries ills and discriminating against that religion were certainly the basic tenets of anti-Semite pre Nazi Germany.

So a Leader of arguably the most powerful nation in the world, and a nation that claims to be the mother of a dream that anyone can achieve anything, has views that are' rude, juvenile' is alright. This encourages prejudice, and if you believe his opinions don't count, look what happened in his presidential campaign when he made comments about punching opponents, we were watching TV footage that showed exactly that. He is President and should conduct himself in a better manner, and if he doesn't understand and/or care what negative effects of things like so-called throw-away comments can have, then he is simply the wrong person for the job. Democratically elected or not.

I take your point and I agree with to an extent. The way I see Trump's travel ban is that he thinks that he is acting to protect his country from Islamic terrorism but his policy to achieve this is flawed and is likely to have the opposite effect. I think most people agree that we need to eradicate Islamic terrorism but I'm not sure his executive order is a step in the right direction.

I agree with you that he is crude and vulgar, I'm not trying to defend him on this point. I genuinely feel sorry for Americans that he was seen by many as the answer to the problems in their country. Like her or not, agree with her politics or not, I am grateful that we have a Prime Minister who is the opposite of Trump in many ways.

I'm not too sure about May, but am convinced there a many in her party who are. BTW I don't believe you were defending at all, I was just simply pointing out that his opinions/ comments carry a greater reverberation across his nation and beyond because of his Position and he needs to reel it in somewhat.

Wilson lost the popular vote in 1974 but was still Prime Minister, were the left out on the streets protesting at such an injustice?

Most of these protests against Trump are paid for by a billionaire George Soros who want to destabilise economies to benefit as a currency speculator.

Hitler loved Muslims and thought Islam was superior to Christianity because of it's martial spirit.

It was Jews he didn't like, much like your left-wing pro-Palestinian types.

So I'm stoopid for pointing out exactly what happened, if your that bent on thinking it's the wrong way campaign to change it, although it's seems to be working , maybe get a few more of your people to get off their arses and vote , rather than complaining after the fact and using an idea that if all the other voters came together from different party's you might be in with a shout
    I'm sure that might happen
    Who's stoopid
