Why do you have to look at the game "quite cold"? You just come across as someone who thinks they're a fan with superior knowledge, that picks up on things the rest don't and most of the time looking for the cracks where there aren't any to be found. Maybe the rest aren't always looking for negatives, and don't class themselves as wannabe football critics? Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Scowen was MoM today, playing in the middle. Hecky will have options when Mowatt is back but the way he's playing it will be a brave decision to change it. I do like the look of James however and I think he'll be a hell of a player when fully match fit.
I thought we were 9th, four points off the play offs, 17 off relegation and had kept two clean sheets in our last three games? Today wasn't great. It was dull and the performances in our two home games haven't been the standard we've come to expect. I'm also dissapointed with a 1/6 return from our home games. But it could be a lot worse don't you think?
I thought Elder was poor. Why should be be considered to 'become ok?' Is it because he's from a Premier Team? I saw nothing in him today to get me excited. He needs too learn how to cross a ball. Gesticulating widely when a cross doesn't come off does not go down well. He didn't inspire me with any confidence on today's showing, but first game and all that ! Happy to be convinced otherwise.
I thought Elder defended well but wasted 3 good crossing opportunities. Jones was much improved from Tuesday but got lucky with the penalty decision. Roberts, MacDonald, James & Watkins pretty solid. Davies had nothing to do til the last minute but when called upon did his job superbly. Scowen superb. Kent full of promise but end ball lacked. Bradshaw worked hard with little quality. Armstrong seems to lack a footballing brain, moments of quality like when he nearly lobbed the keeper but then he has moments of stupidity where he doesn't make the obvious run or gives away a needless free kick. Hammill & Hedges weren't really involved enough to comment on. Overall we edged the game but didn't create enough to really moan about not getting a winner. Another poor referee who missed a penalty to either side. The big worry is we seem to lack a plan B after 65 mins like we had earlier in the season. If the first 11 don't do it it's basically Hammill or nothing. It's hard to see us completely changing a game like Wolves away
I think the new lads need a bit of time, they are lacking first team game time. They are getting that now Let's be a little patient with them.
Part of that "Plan B" very early in the season was to bring Payne on for the last 20 minutes, and until he got injured, it was well received by most of the fans. In terms of strikers at the moment we don't seem to have a clear "Plan A" thats as effective. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
i thought elder was as poor as anyone on the pitch today. absolutely no surprise, coming straight into the team. and i'm not using today as any kind of barometer for how he'll play for us for the rest of the season. i think today was just one of those days. we struggled against a typical grayson team. i don't think it's making excuses, to cite 3 brand new players and another one on the bench, as reasons for not being at our best. it's just reality. hecky and clapham have both said the same - to a point it's like starting again. all things considered, happy with a point.
its our own fault we should have got a proper manager in like Big Sam, I mean, he's really turning Palarce round......isn't he?
Amazes me how some had watch Roberts win header after header against a 9 foot tall forward and then pick out a minor mistake he made in the first 5 seconds of the game when we did that stupid backwards kick off
And a brilliant defensive header in the second half when running back towards our goal. He just got enough on the Preston cross to clear their unmarked man who was at the far post. Him and MacDonald were excellent today. One of those games where both defences were on top. We used to have an awful habit of losing those games in our not too distant past. I think that's a fair assessment too. Elder wasn't great - looked nervous, maybe even trying too hard - but he's in the right place to develop given our recent record of bringing players on. Also shows that being at a PL club is no guarantee of being immediately the best option. As long as he's not knackered by travelling, I think full backs v Reading will be Jones and Yiadom. But which way round? Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
I don't think it was a tough game at all today, the Nobbers were poor and we should have beat them easily. It was an awful 2 points thrown away to be honest. And whether messrs Armstrong & Kent & James & Jones & Elder had good or bad games, they won't be our players for the start of next season will they!
I thought Elder was very poor. Crossing needs a lot of work. I'm surprised we don't have anyone in the u23s who is good as him.
Not losing our centre backs in January is a big bonus for the rest of the season mate. As I posted yesterday, we may have lost a creative midfielder and our main goal threat, but we will still be difficult to break down. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Penalty's, what did you think? Roberts on Preston player Preston player on Kent. Both looked pens from ESL where I sit.
