Re: Heartbreaking There is no reason we cannot do okay next season if we get the summer window right look at Huddersfield and leeds.
Re: Heartbreaking How do you know the "team is weaker now"? It might be better. Let's just see what happens. I'm not making any predictions but it's a great time to be a fan of a team enjoying some of the most success in its history.
Re: Heartbreaking By the way we needed three players to start with if we was seriously trying for a top 8 finish, and we lost five I'd say that was 8 wouldn't you ?, I have every faith in the scouting short list that will have been drawn up over the past few months judging by the recent past acquisitions, so if we'd have gone out and got 8 of them I honestly believe the squad would have been strengthened, don't you ? And if 6 of them had been permanent signings we would have at least had half a squad for next season.
Re: Heartbreaking Im not saying any aren't good enough I'm saying we didn't have enough strength in depth, we needed like for like cover in key areas ie Scowen and Hourihanes positions, a left back, a left winger so Scowen didn't have to play there, and a decent keeper for the bench wouldn't have gone a miss, was you happy to go chasing the play offs with just Jackson as centre half cover ? Because I wasn't too sure to be honest.
Re: Heartbreaking I don't think we needed 8 but that's just my opinion. Bradshaw always came in the summer to replace sam winnall imo, Moncur for conor but he isn't upto it as yet. So we have brought in mowatt to replace conor mowatt is 21 and is on a 2 and half year deal he was leeds player of season a couple seasons back so I think that one is a good signing. Matty james replaces morsey who was always a loan. And getlin jones replaces bree and I expect we will try sign if we like what we see. Also we have andy yiadom coming back and judging by Saturday he walks into the side. By the way you chose to ignore me when I said if we recruit right in the summer there is no reason we cannot do well look at Huddersfield and leeds both have more or less completely diffrent sides from last season and leeds recruited late.
Re: Heartbreaking We already needed Mowatt, James, Elder, and Hedges, to bluster the squad for a promotion push, as soon as Bree, Hourihane, Payne, And Winnall left they needed replacing with permanent signings in my opinion. Huddersfield and Leeds have someone at the club who can get deals done do you honestly feel we have ?
Re: Heartbreaking That would have been some big squad I doubt for example james would have come when we would have had conor, scowern, mowatt, morsey and moncur all going for center midfield roles 6 center midfielders is just unrealistic. You do realise we can only field 11 players? And not at the minute we don't have a ceo but I imagine by the summer we will so that argument is irrelevant l.
Re: Heartbreaking We'll see, you do realise players get injured and suspensions don't you, Moncur is a U23s player and as you said Morsey was only ever a loan player anyway . If you cast your mind back to December this forum was full of posts saying we need 3 or 4 in January even Heckingbottom said we needed to strengthen in interviews.
Re: Heartbreaking He wasn't bought as a under 23 player. And I accept we get injurys but promotion winning sides don't have so many players going for the same position because you don't want to be rotating the side every other week. We will see like I said in other posts the summer window is vital. But this is a good time.for me to be a red the best manager we have had in my 21 years of watching and much better than the dark days of escaping relegation to league 2, near bankruptcy, getting beat by teams like crawly and alctrincham. But I suppose some won't remember.
Not sure why people think that Moncur was bought to replace Conor. Moon cur is not a conventional midfield player he is a number 10. More like Mowatt's been brought in to replace Moncur. .
If anyone had told me 12 months ago we would be well up in the championship I would have laughed, but here we are, and although always very sad to see players move on, I still thank them for the work they did for the club, and wish them well, and look forward to the next 12 months with eager anticipation Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Re: Heartbreaking Any chance I can borrow that crystal ball of yours? Got York Races coming up and i'd love to know the winners. It honestly wouldn't suprise me if the club weighed up the options, saw that promotion was gonna be a difficult task this year (let's bear in mind here that we're little old Barnsley who are competing with one of the smallest budgets in the Championship). Reading, Leeds, Sheff Weds, Huddesfield, Derby, Norwich will all be in with a shout and all of have bigger budgets than us. Players had their heads turned. It happens. Sell them on. Consolidate for this year. So what if we finish mid-table? That's an oustanding achievement for a club of our size. Let's see how the summer transfer window goes before getting on at the club. Get some younger lads in who want to develop, want to play for the club (looking at Winnall here), and then possibly push for promotion again. It's going to take a lot for us to get out this division, but I genuinely feel we're on the right path. Sometimes you have to take a step back to take a step forward. If numbers are right that are being bandied about then we've got about £15m in the bank, so why panic buy in January? Get some loans in, keep us steadied in mid-table and make some decent signings in the summer. Have some faith in the club, they've got us this far.
