Whilst researching the budgets of the championship teams this year I came across this. "The biggest game of the year is the Play off final to decide if you are bound for the games at Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea or a cold winter night at Oakwell" Not sure if this makes me angry, or proud of where we are.
Nobody relishes a cold Tuesday night at Oakwell. We've had some joy over the years under the lights. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
What's not to love about a cold winter night at Oakwell? Typical of lazy journalists; why think of something new to say when you can trot out the same old cliches?
I just read that in the same way as I would "a cold Tuesday night in Stoke". Don't think it's disparaging in any way. Quite the opposite in fact. I see it as painting us as a tough place to go, somewhere teams will feel discomfort and know they're in for a game.
My previous post didn't actually answer your question. My proper answer is; patronised. It's basically another way of saying "the likes of Barnsley".
I think it'd meant as a put down, I get it all great time from work colleagues from Leeds and Manchester, I always tell people about our towns friendly people and lovely countryside and that I wouldn't live in their drug infested, crime ridden **** hole cities if they paid me to.
For Sky, the BBC or other TV channel to show the external view of our 1906 stand is bound to give a totally false impression of our club. It is one of the reasons I hope, with all the transfer cash we've made, that the relic is demolished, and a new stand constructed.
I hope it stays til 2106. Barnsley Football Club will still be going strong after the BBC and Sky get bought out and dismantled by a third rate Chinese company
