how much have they spent on players this season

this is not a pop at clubs overspending etc. I am just wondering. They seem to be doing well and I do not recall any huge transfer fees being associated with them.

its a shame that the people of Barnsley do not support as well as the Hudds folk do

their ground is listed as a 24,500 capacity... ours as 23,009. If you look at their fixtures list which shows attendances you will see they are averaging 19k or more. We this term are around 13k. We have to suffer the proximity of the Sheffield teams and Rotherham and Donny... they have Leeds and Bradford to compete with in that respect

They've made some shrewd loan signings like Mooy & Kachunga as well as some decent permanent ones from the German leagues. I'd say 4 or 5 of their squad have cost well in excess of £1 million. As you say, by general Championship standard hardly a fortune.
Still a helluva lot more than us tho.....

One of my workmates is an st holder. View from him is that mooy has been a revelation, Wells has done the business and they've played a blinder landing brown. Other than that, just a well organised bunch of lads. Not dissimilar to us. Except we lost Sam, conor and bree, where they added quality

Cheap season tickets DT, attendances usually 1-2k more than ours usually. Good luck to them they are doing well. Spending heavily on wages apparently.

Rotherhams Tony Stewart recently said that they had the same budget as Huddersfield. Its how you spend it i suppose .

They have spent a fair bit but made just as much so technically spent very little. Theor record signing cost 1.8 million but pretty much same day made it back selling Joel Lynch to QPR. Had a promotion bonus from Boro for Adam Clayton. Think they had other sell ons and bonuses from other deals too. They didn't spend much to replace Oliver Norwood and Alex Smithies. Had a sell on from Jordan Rhodes too. Done excellent over the past few years making cash from players long gone.

looking at various census based sites ...

The population of Huddersfield is 163k... whereas Barnsley is 231k... so clearly the lowering of the price of ST's does work...

They really market the club well, always offers for locals schools and the have good relationships/ sponsorships with local businesses. Always invited to network events. It doesn't happen at Oakwell or does it?

I just hope they have one eye on their next two fixtures, a Cup replay with City & Newcastle at home. Beat the Geordies and I genuinely believe they will go up as Automatic. Be nice to put a little dent in their ambitions but I'm not holding my breath.

Re: looking at various census based sites ...

That's the population of Barnsley Metropolitan Borough (which includes the town plus all outlying areas like Penistone, Darfield, Wombwell etc.).

Kirklees Metropolitan Borough, which includes the town of Huddersfield and all outlying areas like Holmfirth, Denby Dale, Dewsbury etc. has a population of 422,500.

If we're just talking about towns, Barnsley's population is 91,297, Huddersfield's is 162,949. They've a much bigger catchment area whichever way you look at it.

I don't disagree re. the season tickets though. Given the money our club has received the last couple of seasons, would be nice to see something similar here. We all know that won't happen though.
