Its held up really well throughout the winter, you can see they've put a lot of hard work and money into this season, everyone concerned deserves a pat on the back, it looks like a green carpet from the stands.

Yet Marley said yesterday it was an awful pitch to play on (paraphrasing).

Yeah, I wondered at that! I wonder if he just meant because it was slippy (everyone seemed to be falling all over).

They've not complained all season, I think it must be the conditions i.e. wind and rain he was alluding to, because yet again the pitch looked like a bowling green.

It has started to cut up in some areas but that's bound to happen at this time of year its definitely one of the better ones. Was past season too if I remember correctly. I think we bought one of those lighting rigs that you move around the pitch to artificially give the pitch some light for growing. Could be wrong

I was expecting it to have taken a turn for the worse, with back to back home games, but it still looked well to me, but I'm pretty high up the Ponty end.

You're right. You can see the rig near the players tunnel I think.

Sitting up in the east stand it is clear that the pitch is nowhere near like playing on a carpet the ball regularly bobbles and the number of times players have fallen over this season they may as well have been wearing ice skates on occasions I have seen it alot worse but lets not get carried away it could and should be better.

It was on the pitch yesterday, over the area they warm up in.

Yep, I also thought the ball was bobbling about and the grass looked a bit longer than usual. It certainly has looked better than it does at the moment.

Angus MacDonald was playing in his slippers l think, one of his slips at the end nearly cost us the game, luckily it was cleared off the line.

The pitch still has the same problems it has had in the past I believe. Although from a distance it looks better than normal, the ground still cuts up in places as it always has done in the past. It's a shame as we'd certainly benefit with our style of play with a decent surface. All the lighting rig does is promote growth. It doesn't sort out the main issue which is the cutting up. We'd have to invest something like 500k to 1m for one of those half synthetic style pitches which is now considered the best way to go. Could we afford it? Who knows but I'd certainly look into it
