At least we're getting to the absolute crux of this board (in whatever guise) and that is one upmanship over supporters with a different opinion to yours. I thought we'd be relegated this year btw.
........'we are back to the - not failing is success attitude'. That's true. Most fans would have snatched a mid table finish if offered at the beginning of the season. And most expecting bottom 6 like the last few seasons we were in the Championship. Probably the directors fell into that trap too - but they are not just fans - it's their job and responsibility to look at all eventualities - they failed - players contracts have caught them out yet AGAIN. They failed Hecky, his staff and the fans.
Happy clapper? Why? Just because I'm not having a wobble because things are going the way I want? Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
I am saying that no matter who we lose to some of our fanbase will churn out one of the reasons I mentioned so it can be used as an excuse for a defeat. I find that disrespectful to our squad of players who are at the exact same level of these other teams, so shouldn't be treated like it's a privilage they don't deserve to be playing championship level football. Be nice to hear no excuses after losing a game instead of someone always bringing up that we just lost to a form team, bogey team, team with more money etc.
I'd absolutely love the club to come out and say. We didn't have to sell Sam, Conor or James. We did it to give perpetual moaners something to talk about after the quiet 12 months they've had.
Look mate, I'm not going to argue with you. You think I'm a happy clapper, I'm just a 51 year old bloke that loves his football team and I've seen them in all 4 divisions, so have seen the strides made by the football club over 39 years of following them. I was at QPR last night, and the reds weren't great, and I was disappointed with one or two individual performances, but I just see it as wasted energy coming on here and banging on about it. My philosophy is to enjoy the good times and not get too down when things are bad. Not that things are really bad at the moment, just not good as they were. Footballs a long haul. Totally agree, old mate. Except last night we were celebrating our daughter's birthday and I'm a few years older than you.
Being one point off the play-offs in Jan doesn't guarantee a spot. Just like being bottom of L1 at Xmas guarantees you miss a play-off spot ;-) Tell me Nudge, if Sky had interviewed you after the Millwall match, and offered you 11th in March, with a brief flirtation with Play-offs, would you have taken it? I would, with big jangly bells on. And I don't think that equates to me being the kind who settles for 2nd best.
Nudge is right on one point tho' . You can't re-build a team half way through a season . The reality is that our slim chances of the playoffs were sold along with Sam , Conor and James Bree. Truth hurts sometimes .
Of the many stupid things you come out with this one is always great, we are in the league position we are based on the first half of the season which the people who are cross with the club acknowledge was absolutely fantastic. We are angry we were sold out for a quick buck and will now topple freely down said table. I fully believe if the club had any balls we would be looking at play offs this season.
Completely see your worries but what keeps me optimistic is a) we have competed in every game since January - unlike Rotherham who seen to get thrashed every week (also unlike in in 2012 when we regularly lost 3 or 4-0); b) good players we have lost such as last summer have been well replaced, so I believe we can do it again
I agree. But we were left in an almost impossible situation by contracts situation and players in such good form etc. I've no idea how all the business works, and I doubt we did everything perfectly, but I think to a degree we were victims of unfortunate circumstances
Immaculately put and by and large I agree (though I do like a whinge occasionally). Thought we played last night like a team with not much to play for which was disappointing but understandable to a point.
