When he can be arsed. Headless chicken. His success in league one appears to have gone to his head and that he is now a 'player' Get him benched and play brown Jackson or big omari a run out. Might not be as talented but they'll put the shift in
Agree with this. I understand our need to use loans, but they should be used as improvements. James is clearly our best centre mid. Great loan signing. Kent clearly has talent although hasn't delivered as I imagine we, he or liverpool would have expected. The rest? Not even close to being the quality you would expect. Jones started well against Leeds but is not this "explosive" fullback we were told he was. Elder has been shocking. Armstrong is the biggest disappointment this year. Couple of decent goals. That's it. Would far rather we play Hammill over Kent, Bradshaw over Armstrong, even Kpekwa over Elder (what's happened to CK? Not even on bench for U23? Something gone off? Injured? Failed a certain "test", or just fallen out with Hecky? Give Brown, Williams, Kay and Hedges more game time now. The one thing that we did better than others up to Feb was work our knackers off. These boys will to prove themselves good enough. Most of the loanees are already on their summer holidays.
I think on the whole, I've been a bit disappointed with our Adam this season, he was fantastic last year at Coventry, maybe that's his level?
Totally agree at the start of the season after his success last year a lot of Reds were rightly excited about the signing. Been pretty disappointed up to date he can go large parts of the game and you forget he's on the field the only way you can accommodate a striker like this is if he scores regually which he hasnt. Id rather see Watkins & Bradshaw up tops with Hammill/Williams out wide.
Armstrong is the most talented player we've got but I totally agree, he's not been playing well enough to start against Ipswich. Bradshaw and Watkins needs to be up there on Saturday. Kayden Jackson isn't good enough and won't be for us. Hopefully he gets a move to a League 2 side and plays regularly. Hopefully Jacob Brown gets another look in as I feel he's going to be very capable in years to come.
None of our strikers gets a sight of goal too often. Bradshaw showed what he can do last night when one on one with the keeper, and no doubt Armstrong could do the same. In an ideal world we'd be up against lesser defenders, and would be getting them in behind, but a threaded through ball and quick striker running in on goal is a very rare sight. Instead we knock the ball up to him and Bradshaw only to see defenders overpowering them, or we get the ball wide and put balls in with the same result. Crying out for something different at the moment, just someone to let defenders know they're in a game. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Adam Armstrong seems to be an old style forward, a pure finisher, a one-on-one type player. He doesn't track back, isn't involved in the build up, but is on the defender's shoulder waiting to spin behind. I see Michael Chopra in him a bit, that type of forward. But we seldom play the way that allows for that kind of ball to be played. His service has been balls into the channels, high balls or passes in short. He's had possibly 5 or 6 true one on ones I think and netted a couple. Last season all his goals came from that kind of situation plus a few worldies. What I'm trying to say is he's a good player, very good, but he doesn't really suit how we play. Now personally I think we ourselves should have done more to get the best out of him, but I understand accusations of poor work rate etc.
Think that says that winnall was a better player than some gave him credit for, but also hourihane was still here loading his bullets. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
When Hourihane was loading Armstrong's bullets he still managed to fire blanks. Managing the metaphor
As I say, different type of players. Armstrong scored a few cracking goals but nowt inbetween. Winnall could win headers and score with head and feet. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
I don't like the role of a target man too much, but we do need someone to hold onto the ball and wrestle with defenders. Someone like George Waring. Sent from space using satellites and things
