Now at 1230, at the advice of South Yorkshire police. Only club in South Yorkshire that allows them to dictate what we can and can't do

So when Sky wanted the Leeds game at 5:30 - no problem - Leeds fans much worse than Wednesday fans

Now we have SYP reducing the capacity of the away stand hitting revenue by 15% from away fans and now at short notice after everyone has bought train tickets etc they move the kick off to lunchtime

why do we have this restriction when games are in Barnsley but the Sheffield clubs never have this issue

    @bondy_slo

Boils my piss this. Can we have a definitive answer from the club or SYP why we are the only club subject to these daft conditions? Add to that, there will be 'hundreds' of seats unavailable ......... just how much of a threatening environment do SYP think exists around Oakwell?

One line of stewards separated us from Derby fans last week. 30k+. 'Big crowd' at Barnsley = 1/4 ground shut, daft ko times ........ 17k? against one of our biggest rivals? 'Nuff said.

Now i have to get up extra early to get there and parked up. :-( Can we have a definitive statement of who enforces the rules and what our official capacity is?

I agree. Totally stuffed up my plans for that day.

This fixture date has been known since June last year when the fixtures came out. Have SYP suddenly woken up and realised?!

No consideration for folks who have already made travel plans.

@Bondy can BFC confirm that the hierarchy when determining the safety of fixtures is
    1. Sky Sports
    2. SYP
    3 BFC

Don't disagree about the corrupt organisation that is SYP but I thought crowd restrictions in West stand were more to do with safety and our fault

I think the price we are willing to pay for security, is reflected in the number of seats that are available to use.

No surprise that this has happened but why has the decision been taken three weeks from the date of the fixture? It makes no difference to me as I only have a 50 mile drive each way and I will just leave three hours earlier than usual. But those who have rearranged work, bought train tickets etc etc will now be seriously put out.

I wonder if the club have any scheme in place to compensate fans in this position who cannot now make the game? (I think I know the answer to that question). This kind of disregard for the welfare of the fans can't go on. I understand if the club have no say in it but it is JUST NOT RIGHT!!

I might be wrong but I think its more to do with we dont see any point opening the whole stand when we dont fill it, added to the fact that for big games we arent allowed by SYP to sell tickets in the lower corner of the away end or East stand and I guess if we opened the West we wouldnt be allowed to sell tickets in the lower corner or the other lower corner of the away stand.
No idea why we built a stand that allows a split between home and away - No way will SYP ever allow us to split it despite that arrangement being in place at loads of other grounds in the country

    I agree with all that.

Aren't the Gables on the part of the West Stand unsafe though or some such malarkey

The gables only require the end block in the West Upper North to be cordoned off, like it has been in the West Upper South.

Cheers. Being scared of trench foot I never step foot in the West Stand.

Disgraceful forcing a change at this late stage when they've known about it for best part of 9 months. SYP is a shambles and a disgrace,

Makes no real difference to me but a big problem for those going by train etc. They wouldn't do this to "posh" folk going to Drury Lane Theatre would they.....

Jimmy - the probs with the West Stand (North) are well-documented and we seem to accept the fact nobody will watch footy from there again. What I was alluding to, is that in addition to the West (North) we have an away end totally separated from the home sides - which should suffice. We have netting on the East side of the away end ........ PLUS for the Hudds match we closed off the North side of the East lower. Yet at Derby (and others) one line of stewards is deemed enough? And works. Just how much segregation do we need at Oakwell? Apart from the odd idiot on the pitch it's years since I saw any trouble in the ground.

Sheffield Wednesday are one of the few
Probably the worst incidents at Oakwell over recent years have come from away fans on the concourse in the North Stand at half-time. Over a similar period games against Wednesday have been relatively trouble free.

Why don't BFC grow a pair for a change and stand up to SYP rather than having their pants pulled down time and time again. It seems other clubs in S. Yorks don't let SYP dictate kick off times and yet we just seem to go along with whatever the police say.

Is it that the police are saying it MUST be at this time? Or is it that the police are saying it will cost £100,000 for policing at 3pm or £50,000 for policing at 12:30pm and we choose the cheaper option while other clubs choose the more expensive?
